It can be a struggle at times getting out some good damage when you're not loaded up with heavy meta. Sure, I could load up XL engines on my Warhammer's and go double AC5 double PPC, but.... blech. I'll take my personal flavors out any day of the week and do reasonably well rather than doing that to a mech just to break 600 damage a game. Sorry.

You just happen to NOT get any good chances to fire before it ends.
Simply get out played real early on and die.

There are alot of reasons you could get sub 200 damage. It actually takes a little bit of time to get 200 damage when you realize lasers only do like 5-10 dmg each, each mech only has like 2-5, and then its DoT, so it requires consistency. I know my sub 200 games its usually the game is over before I can even do anything. I see the enemy and fire a little then die...

Games dont seem to usually last all that long, so there isnt usually much chance for everyone to get good damage in. You only get 1 life, so, yeah...

Its not hard to score really poorly.

Do you mean that you see the same players in your matches consistently doing poorly? If it's the case that you're seeing some people (not the same ones every time) doing sub-200, that's normal.

Last night my Oxide got one-shot in the first minute after contact. Did a whole 45 damage, shut off my comp, poured myself a scotch. I'm sure my teammates were going "45 dmg? Dumb scrub."

Probably should focus on your own game skills rather than denigrating the "masses" around you. Doesn't help them get any better (not that anyone reading this thread would likely admit to be one of the deplorables you describe) and it just makes you look like a bittervet without the skillset to back it up.

i've done < 20 damage in my splatdog before. got caught out by an entire assault lance and just melted.
i've also done > 1200 damage in the same mech because none of the opponents decided to focus on me.
one coin, two sides.

then again, i've seen some pilots consistently put out ridiculously low damage and kill scores to the point where it's absurd. like no dakka kdk3 should be pulling < 200 damage in a match on principle alone. you could roll your face on your keyboard and deal more damage. yet i saw 2-3 particular pilots get those numbers consistently last night.

didn't help that i kept dropping on the same side as them.

potatoes will potate and all that.

I've had bad days, then like the other day I had a very inconsistent day.

One match I had 4 kills, 900+ damage, even one of those kills I just charged through a poor blackjack and wiped my feet on his corpse as I passed......

Next game I got out of position and got 50 damage since I didn't realize their whole team was behind me as I was trying to wail on a light. King Crab cored me out easy mode from behind.

There are times though when I do respectable and then see the whole assault lance get less than 100, when they were right where the action was.

I can pull some high scores and I can pull some low scores to. Under 200 is not common that's for sure and that means there generally was a "problem" or mistake on my part. That's not an average scores that's a really bad score mostly.

After all that, there are a lot of good close matches out there and even on a win not everyone can get a good score all the time, sometimes someone has to take the damage. The highest scores can only be had on a loss or a very close win anyway.

I have won a few with a very low score and got carried even. But I do most of the carrying most of the time. Because I'm that good. Got to have some personal self respect and pride to be very good.

I'll raise ya one. I can't find the Screenshot (I know I had it here somewhere), but I managed to get a Kill in a DWF on Alpine, without actually doing any damage. The match was won before I even got into range. I must have dealt the 0.4 damage needed to finish someone off.

The majority of people who engage in amateur competitions are mediocre to terrible at them. That's the reality of everything, from real life sports to online video games.

I know we all wish the other 11 people on our PUG queue team were Proton level mech gods, but reality falls far short.

Trying hard just won't beat talent.
