Ooooookay so I know there's hordes of titles already, but it would be great if we could earn them other than just buying Mechpacks content and from the occasional achievements. Also more and diverse achievements pls. Should give the players something to work towards for a little while

But why?

Most of the achievements we have now aren't 'workable.' They're just meters you fill up with with normal play. The only exceptions to that are Death Star, Liquid Metal, and Philanthropist. And it's not like you can actually set your mind to get those - You just do your best and it happens. Or not.

What kind of achievements are there that you can 'work' towards?

Oh, and there's also Guillotine. But that's for lunatics.

See F2P games like Star Conflict for how to implement achievements and titles in a game.

MWO has literally the worst implementation of both achievements and titles I have seen in any multiplayer game, ever. Including MMORPGs. 90% of the titles are just receipts from buying mech packs and 90% of the achievements are either random or grind-based instead of skill-based. Also, we have no repeatable achievements, like Star Conflict.

And don't forget how out of proportion the rewards are. Get 10,000 assists in medium mechs and you get 7500 GXP. Uh... thanks?

I've been running this topic through my head over that last couple of days. It seems with the recent events (Hunt the Huntsman and Tackle the Linebacker) that the stat keeping system can now accurately track which chassis you kill. That got me thinking about some possible achievements:

Defeat the Plague: 100 KMDD on Locust, 100 KMDD on Cicada, and 100 KMDD on Grasshopper

Be the Plague: while piloting a Locust get 100 KMDD against any medium mechs, while piloting a Cicada get 100 KMDD against any heavy mechs and while piloting a Grasshopper get 100 KMDD against any assault mechs

Snake Charmer: 25 KMDD against Adder and 25 KMDD against Viper

Dethrone the King: while piloting a Crab, get a Solo Kill against a King Crab.

Clash of the Titans: while piloting an Orion, get a Solo Kill against a Cyclops and an Atlas

Trophy Room: while piloting a Huntsman get one Solo Kill against each of the following - Mist Lynx, Arctic Cheetah, Kit Fox, Panther, Ice Ferret, Shadow Cat, Wolverine, Ebon Jaguar, Timber Wolf, Dire Wolf and Kodiak

For the Coordinator: while piloting a Panther, Kintaro and Dragon, get a Solo Kill against a Victor in each.

Overthrow the Gods: 50 KMDD on Zeuss, 50 KMDD on Hellbringer, 50 KMDD on Summoner, 50 KMDD on Warhammer, 50 KMDD on Thunderbolt

There Can Be Only One: while piloting a Highlander or Highlander IIC get a Solo Kill against a Mauler, Stalker, Marauder, Executioner, and Banshee

Battle of Agincourt: while piloting an Archer get 50 KMDD's against Black Knights

Respect My Authority!: while piloting an Enforcer get 25 KMDD against a Blackjack and 25 KMDD against a Firestarter

Wild, Wild West: while piloting a Quickdraw get a Solo Kill against a Rifleman and while piloting a Rifleman get a Solo Kill against a Quickdraw

Military Headshot: while piloting a Commando get a Solo Kill against a Battlemaster

Change the Bounty Hunter C-bill bonus from +30% each match to +100,000 C-bills for every kill shot against any hero mech.

Other achievements to spice things up like;
"Win a Conquest or Assault game without your tean destroying enemy Mechs" Should encourage people to actually get on the objective rather than Skirmish with bases/cap points. Entire team would get the achievement

Win a conquest game through cap as the last person on your team alive
Win a conquest game with all 5 points captured
Win a quickplay match in 4-5 minutes or less

Anything that is not "Score X amount of kills" and as you've said, the other few "unique" ones

Edit: Similar to the one we already have;
Win Conquest and/or Assault by cap X amount of times (Separate achievements)

The problem with achievements like this would be, that you would need them for every chassis. Some of them you don't even see that often on the battlefied. It is not something you can reliably work towards.
You can work towards generic ones. Number of KMDDs and so on. You can't reliably work on achievements like Death Star. Not even the Ace of Spades (that was 8 kills in one match, right?). I would even prefer seasonal achievements over Wolfhound kills for example. Hell even inefficiency achievements could be fun.
Are your ideas bad? No, I think they are great! We just would need more of them... for being in specific mechs as for killing specific mechs. Still it would be more luck than skill to earn many of them.

I get that you are talking about achievements and not about challenges. And I would love a lot more achievements in the game! Titles I have the one I like... BUT of course there are other sweet ones. It would give more incentives to play for a lot of players... as would more lore... or good FP... or or or...

More achievements in the game and perhaps even lore friendly, would be great. Of course without game breaking rewards... they could be small... just something to give you a feeling of accomplishement besides the achievement and title or badge.

That's all just gimmick stuff that a single person can't influence.

Which is fine for Steam achievement and the like. Not so much when rewards and titles are getting thrown out.

Would be a nice addition too, right!
I think they take more time than just a title though... but yeah, would be nice :)
At least I can get my number on my mechs now :)

Yes, I know that. This list was by no means exhaustive.

If you could get several achievements possible in each chassis then that could incentivize players to drop in those "rarer" chassis more often. Bring a little more variety to each drop.

Definitely make the rewards small but significant. Some might reward you with a warhorn, others might unlock exclusive decals or maybe a mech bay for the really long grind types.

I would be 100% fine with locking a Clan Diamond Shark dekkle behind a new tier of credit earning achievement, past "The 1%" achieve.

How about we find typical Diamond Shark light, medium, heavy and assault and you have to earn a certain amount of C-bills in each chassis to unlock it?

Problem is that the Diamond Shark decal is coming in the December patch.

We can hope. I'm still paranoid enough about Russ and Paul that they might completely overlook Diamond Shark just because it has something to do with the Mad Cat Mk II, and will be holding the dekkle hostage until they release that thing.

More achievements and titles would be great. Its more fun to see people with titles you can brag about or carry some weight, like deathstar and guillotine.

some randoms ones I thought of.
kill and enemy mech with collision damage
land on an enemy mech while falling at more than 150 kph
kill an enemy mech while standing in the enemy's base in assault mode
kill an enemy standing directly behind you
win a match as the last surviving mech on your team
get KMDD with all your damage done to the center torso
get KMDD while at 100% armor
shoot a single enemy mech in the front CT and rear CT within 2 seconds.

There could also be weapon specific achievements. They could be silly things or used to teach players about the strengths of certain weapons and how to use them. You might be able to use cleaver achievements to force players to use a specific weapon in its intended or more optimal way.

get a cockpit kill with a gauss rifle from over 500m away
kill enemies in a single match with each class of laser (1SL/SPL,1ML/MPL, 1LL/LPL kill)
cause 50 ammo explosions with machine guns
land 30 LRM hits in a row (at least one missile hits per launcher fired)
land 30 auto cannon hits in a row
Kill and enemy mech moving over 130kph with an AC20
Hit with a PPC from over 600 meters away while traveling over 120kph and in the air

Maybe there could be map specific ones as well. Something like getting a kill from atop the citadel on river city.

These are some very nice ideas. I especially like the bounty hunter, but it should be an extra (so the 30% can stay or people will riot).

Achievements based on chassis are a good idea, you get some incentive to buy some new mechs or try something out. And best thing, these are kinda lore friendly and funny to do as you have to actively seek for opportunities.

Now, the only problem is that MWO according to PGI is super cereal business, so no fun allowed Posted Image

More inspirations on achievements can be found on this thread. http://mwomercs.com/...e-achievements/

Also, these. CW matches do not count:

The Blessed: Survive the match with 1 HP (internal) left in the CT or the Head location.

The Pedomech: Kill 3 Light mechs in one match.

The Seagal: Destroy 20 limbs in one match.

"Who you calling slow?" - Achieve a kill while piloting an urbie, and the torso is between an arc of 270 and 330 degrees (or 60 degree cone against the running direction of the leg), and moving under 54 kph.

"Cool guys don't look at explosions" - Achieve a kill against a 'mech outside of your teams line-of-sight with an artillery strike or air strike.

"Han shot first" - Achieve a kill as your victim shoots at you. (You within 30-degrees cone of the reticle.)
