For the past 14 years I have attended GenCon in Indianapolis and met with many game companies at official meetings. Most of the time I have gotten a few facts, (nothing to secret), seen a few previews, but mostly been asked a massive amount of questions that basically are "How do we get you to spend more money?"

What I really feel would be great would be player driven pannels where players can discuss aspects of playing the game.

Ideas:
Tactics for playing on maps.
Tactics for playing on Faction warfare.
How to improve faction warfare.
Mech building on a budget.
Inner sphere tech and how to use it.
Clan tech and how to use it.
Recruitment meetings for Player groups.
Meeting with famous player groups, Mercstar, Starwolves, etc.
meeting with famous Youtubers.
How to stream on twitch, etc.
starting a youtube channel.
How to get people to start playing the game.

All of these meetings would be a blast to attend and would cost PGI a dime. If the people who run them do a good job pgi can throw swag at them ingame or give them free admission next time.

Just my thoughts.

I've heard the 'we don't have that programmer any more' bit. Is this an actual quote?

Yes. It began with Paul saying, in 2014: "One of the things that we were talking about is the Clan LPX having switchable ammo types - right now we've found a problem that's inherent with our weapons system that's not allowing us to actually have an ammo swap-type.". (http://mwomercs.com/...-weapon-update/)

It came out later that this was due to fundamental issues in how weapons in MW:O are programmed, and the person responsible for the code had left the company: https://www.youtube....RPdQ#t=2h30m39s (Townhall April 16 2015).

most likely not; Taken out of context perhaps; Or made up, which is common on these forums.

See above.

This suggestion is nice, but it assumes that PGI wants to listen to anything that the community has to say. They ignore/avoid their own forums, and when someone was noisy enough to force them into a conversation with community members about CW, Russ filibustered at the meeting, then later banned the person who had a principal hand in organizing it. Not only does PGI not want to hear what the community has to say about their game and how it might be improved, they actively avoid hearing any critique.

Maybe...to make sure they exist?

It would be interesting to see if the white knights pulled a Clark Kent and coincidentally weren't around at the same time as the PGI staff. And I don't, in the least, mean to compare PGI's crew with Superman, despite how disappointing the recent movies have been.

Still looking who is the replacement for Karl:

I mean he's still titled Technical Director; who is that now?
