Meta - used in gaming circles as shorthand for metagaming

Enough of this damn crusade.
Meta has been part of nerd culture for a long, long time, I remember hearing about it back in the 90's with Magic the Gathering. So seriously, get off your outdated high horse and adapt to the evolution of language.

No.
Thy colourful language is foul treachery to thine ears.
Thou interested in acquiring here mechpack?

Don't bother. Somebody who doesn't appreciate the definition of the word irony is not going to take the argument.

It's not even outdated - It's just wrong.
Meta game theory applies to any game that has a 'rule set' that can be influenced or 'abused' while not actually engaging in an opponent, either NPC or PC. In fighting games, Meta refers to the various character counters (Knowing Player X will likely choose Character Y, so Player A choose Character B that's strong against Character Y). In RPGs, it often takes the form of Min-Maxing (Perfecting calculating stats and items for particular affects, calculation that aren't realistically available to the character in universe) or choosing attacks (Using magic spells that are strong against enemies you know are weak to them, but your character wouldn't).
In Mechwarrior Online, the Meta is the MechLab, a place outside of the actual game where you make changes based on information obtained out of the main game mode (Actual mech combat).
Paigan's view isn't outdated or old or classical - It's just the typical elitist bullcrap one should always expect to flow from the the grief engine that is EVE.

However, I do appreciate Nighthawk's answer about the maps as I was talking about FP. Thankyou.
I will now upgrade my dropdecks and move up to heavy-wub-capable, high-mount laser clan mechs for my Faction Playing to continue..
Ah f*ck it, I'll just read a book.
You dropped on a cold map like Grim Portico and then complain about laser vomit? That's as biased as complaining about LRMs on Boreal Vault. Next time drop on Sulfurous Rift and see if IS laser vomit is as overbearing as you say. You might come back here and QQ about IS ballistic boats instead.

It's much much harder to torso twist gauss and PPC, on the other hand. Laser vomit is not alpha stable either on most mchs for more than one full alpha, especially on clan mechs with their DHS nerf; you can continue flinging out gauss and PPC without pauss for a good 4-5 volleys in comparison.

It's a waste of time!
It's like 1 year and a half I told him 3 or 4 times that the meaning of a word depends on context, and not necessarily you can find that meaning on dictionary.
But NOPE..... someone's head must be like marble.
The hilarious fact is that Paigan is german, and he's the esact reverse of von Humboldt or Wittgenstein or others philosophers and language theorists.

Not using XL's and less means more. My BLK and WHR's are really tough and can kill a lot. And are not running sub 60kph's. Took me some time through trial and error but I've adjusted it strictly to my needs and chaotic playstyle and it's working.
If by some miracle PGI introduces Light Fusion Engines (or anything remotely close to what Clan XL offers) then I'll come back to the subject. But until that happens my WHR's and BLK's are staying where they are. As one of my unit mates said : "you don't mess with perfection". And my mechs are working and killing.

You shouldn't make jokes like that. Remember: a PGI employee could read it (yeah, yeah, the chances are very slim but who knows!). See what happened to the light mech class: less firepower, less armour, just a bit faster than meds, as big now as meds or some heavies.,..and who gets the agility quirks for better survival? All classes except lights!
