Trading Mechs and Equipment

The Idea is simple allow players to either give, trade and or sell mech's and equipment to other players directly in game.
This will help people trying to start clans and promote a social network plus there is an established black market in BattleTech so this will keep to the cannon source material for the game.
An established trading system would be sweet it's one of the things I wished more games had.

How about a real money auction like Diablo 3?

Both a real money Auction and in game Currency auction system would be a good idea. I would expand the concept alittle though allow people to trade peaces of equipment for other items.
I would like something where you can litteraly give someone a mech if you wanted to.
No trade between players would be lame and it would detract from the MMO aspect of the game. I did do a search and didn't see any topics on trading.

If you don't allow it there is no real reason to hack accounts.

It's a totally stupid idea!

The "MMO aspect" of the game is solely built around Community Warfare. No trading in MWO.

These guys are absolutely correct. Sorry - as it is a neat idea at the outset - but it is just too risky. Look at all the fraud around WoW and other games that allow this.
Now what I could see doing would be some (very limited) options to temporarily share a mech. This could, perhaps, be limited to Merc Companies: they could maintain a stable of mechs for use by new members, or if someone needs to pilot a class / size they don't have in their personal mech bay. However, even things like this have to be balanced with PGI's need to have a source of income (real money) so it can't go too far... and may not work at all.

1) There's been at least a dozen threads on this.
2) In each one the strong majority of players who still have the strength to reply again say "NOOOOOO", for various good reasons.
3) The developers have said a couple of times that there will be no player-to-player transfers of any kind: not money, not xp, not mechs. Not for free, not for money, not for xp.

Even if you couldn't cheat that way, being able to trade means there would always be people trying to hack your account to take your stuff like in every other game with trading.

But it will be nice to have some cosmetic features available for trading, like cool looking diffusers, paints, aerodynamic elements - to bring unique style for your mech, some individuality. Team fortress is a great example, Dota 2 is the same. It is purely cosmetic and it is fun to play with. We need hats.

and not to mention that if the person hacked have premium mechs, it would become a problem piranha can't ignore, and have to devote resources to combat it
(and lets face it, organized crime profit from this (look up Final fantasy mmos for examples) while the company hemorrhages money)
I don't think they want to devote a huge amount of customer support just for this (fixing this problem in case ppl are hacked... and no before you go: "it is people's fault they have weak passwords/blah blah", if piranha is paid at any point, it becomes piranha's problem).
And, unlike the games you mentioned, there is no loot drop in this game. everything you need can be brought from npc.
While I can see the desire to give the 14 yr old teenage girl™ a free mech.
is just not worth the hassle that comes with it.
it add very little, and opens up a huge nightmare of piranha.
