don't be. you don't generate as much volatile talk as much as some do around here. you know who you are. some are gone, and others still lurk. some even play the game at one point. Wrath was part of his name, some of you remember him. he was last seen playing 4 months ago. since then not a single sight of him.

Not really. rather I broke a connection by flying one of their flagships into the Sun. there's a difference.

Maybe. But now I simply enjoy the game, try to help other newbes, and contribute a bit here in forum without get poisoned by the mood in general subforum...

Look at newbe subforum. A lot of kind people, trying to help without blaming PGI and MWO. This kind community there encouraged me to play this game more. While general forums is all about flaming PGIs Game. This does not cause positive feelings and desire to start MWO to play...

A HUGE shoutout is overdue for Koniving, Boogie138, Terciel, and RogueJedi for their efforts in the New Peeps forum.

But you have salt and then there is salt.

Every game forum has salt.

95% of the sodium here is about ENDGAME CONTENT.

Don't you also want finished, playtested, playable endgame content?

IOW, the salt is the result of a fight worth fighting, or it's not and you capitulate and take the status quo.

Simply complaining about salt is a baseless position to hold.

Is it justified or not?

the old ones still exist, so youc na always play them. and MW:LL is also still running. These games are not like a MMO which when no one hosts a server are gone.

Oh please. Next thing your gonna tell me that PGI has nothing to do with nuking old MW4 GameRanger servers as well as MWLL team. Srsly, sometimes I wish HarmonyGold does same to Microsoft and their puppets, i.e. sue the sh!t outta them for good and force em to close shop.

*Shrug* Salt is fun to write and fun to read. But most players are eternal optimists and are sticking around because they hope there will be some kind of immersive endgame content in the future.

People's obsession with endgame content is absurd. This game is not meant to be anymore than death match with mechs. The general apparent assumption by this community that FW was supposed to be some in depth miracle was and is naive. It provides exactly what the game was meant to provide. PvP death match. Just like QP but with a map to obsess over.

I'm not saying that FW doesn't need a rework. It does. That isn't my point though. The point of this game is to get in mechs and shoot people. Thinking it should provide more than that is optimistic beyond reason. Even if FW gets reworked again, its still not going to live up to these unrealistic expectations of what it should be providing.

Mechanic changes are one thing and would be a realistic goal for FW but again, its still just going to be PvP with a map.

Well, that may be, but PGI started that obsession when they presented their presentation/advertisement for what THEY said CW was going to be. I for one am just hoping that someday they deliver.

I suppose that is "absurd" now that you mention it.

Considering that it has been years since that presentation/advertisement.....yeah I would say so...

Going to throw an edit in here quick:

This game should have focused on Faction play from day 1. There should have never been a Quick play option to begin with. Had that happened, I think the game would be a lot closer to what a lot of the people here expected it to be.

There's two ways people can take when they don't like the state of the game:

Salt.

Or leave.

I chose #2, there's that. now get off the salt trains and go play another game. make yourself happy, it'll do you and others a favor of not having to hear the toxicity that you brew.

Option 3. Say repeatedly that you are going to leave/stop posting, tell other people they should leave/stop posting, but never actually leave or stop posting. You've had at least 2 "farewell MWO" threads, but here you are. Still here, still posting, still telling other players to leave.

You are still here though. Continued posting after you "chose" #2 comes across as rather salty don't you think, or maybe just bitter?Posted Image

OK, then we have it. Why pay for more?

Done.

Ding ding!

What's that? F2P time has commenced?

Alrighty then

Fudged if I need 97 new mechs, hanging dog statues, and magenta paint.

But thanks for clearing that up.

If my memory serves me correctly, faction play focus WAS the plan, in fact quick play was supposed to just be a placeholder so that the founders could get some shooty shooty in while faction play was being developed. Unfortunately well y'know what happened afterPosted Image

I've been here since day one. Legendary founder, Clan pack 1, 2 and 3 owner. Got me an Urbie and a Warhammer pack. Eyeing the Kodiak. Run around in my Direwolf pretty much as often as I can in group queue. And I'm a happy, quiet customer.

As arrogant as it sounds, sometimes I feel like the only Founder who just logs in, plays with his friends and tries to play to the best of his ability. I don't vent and moan on here, I try and stay away from the salt and come here to keep an eye on things and changes I have missed. I have my opinions on balance and the state of the game and I certainly do not think the sky is falling like so many others here do... Like the entire Battletech community has been screaming since the 90s in fact.

No, the game won't last forever. yes it WILL die. It will move on into obscurity and will be obsolete one day just like MW2, 3 and 4 and your favourite saturday morning cartoon. And when that happens I fully expect this same community to start bringing about the death of the next Btech game.

Enjoy it while you have it and by all means, nudge the devs in the right direction, sure - but don't piss and moan about every single thing they do. Just play. Have fun. It'll be gone sooner than you think.

I remember open beta lasting forever. The game should have stayed closed beta until Faction play was fully developed and quick play was removed from the game. They never listened to the players and did what they wanted. First throwing the game into open beta and then launch without the key features that were promised to begin with. That tells me right there, that even though they said the game was supposed to focus on Faction play, that was never their actual intended focus. Given that statement is pure speculation and opinion. Not fact.

I believe that was the publisher forcing those choices, as well as likely pushed the MVP ideas, those publishers DID hold the game back and we DID get an improvement after IGP went under. PGI probably just rolled with it.

By all means.... enlighten me as to what you think faction play should consist of beyond mechanic changes. I would like to hear exactly what your vision for the game mode consists of.

To be fair most of the founders voted with their wallet and left, going back to megamek and funding HBS, and to be fair to the remaining ones, its because PGI gave them so much hopes and dreams only for it to all come crashing down, not everyone deals with disappointment the same way. If PGI didn't say anything just that they would release a mw game, and then this was the result, it probably would not have this much salt, sure there would be some complainers wanting more out of it, but i think the community would've handled it better. Since PGI gave the impression of a mekhq type game however and all we got was the megamek component, this level of salt is totally understandable imo.

PS: it would be like those WoW players who waited patiently for Project Titan, Blizzards supposed next MMO, they waited for about a decade, and the result was overwatch. A fun game for the tf type crowd but a far cry from the game they were expecting, if blizzard presold project titan at its initial development..... well the NMS debacle would have some competition Posted Image .

But OK, I see the OP created a thread to be not so salty and it derailed into a whinefest.

I only wrote that not everyone is salty. People like me actually have fun ingame. And for me its simply raise my Quality of Gaming not to read general forums anymore and simply enjoy the game.
