...until many of us decide whether or not to hang it up.

No, not excited. An odd mix of dread and hope, both going both ways.

I foresee an attempt at a joke starting with suggestion the last 6 months being building Mech packs... I really, really hope it doesn't go past that, maybe do it something like this:

"Alright everyone, we got a really big surprise for you. All that hush hush? Well here it is the new mechpacks!"

...
...

*phone rings, talks to someone

"-what? Not ready yet? Well what do you have.... Really? Ok... Guess that'll have to do...

OK, slight delay on those Mechs, but.... Here's a fully working true to original plan community warfare with balanced R&R factory worlds, etcetc.
And aerotech. And combined arms with variable AI, and solaris with various later boards and modes, and offline pve courtesy hbs... I know it's not Mech packs, sorry guys. Ok, someone start the non-mech pack patch while we watch the tourney."

I'd still take shots.

Yup, it's almost bittervet christmas

The unwrapping for the rest of us will be peeling away the layers of salt to see what PGI actually said

I try not to read too much into what is announced, and usually take what is said as a guide as to what is around the corner. Too many here take things such as "We are planning to do X" as "We promise that X will be perfectly the way you imagine it, in all it's glory". Others as "And Y and Z will be no more than 90 days away, and will only cost you a new mortgage and your 1st born"

I agree with BubbleBee, everything that PGI says shouldn't be taken as a promise... unless that's pretty much what "there will be..." means....

I don't know, may be when Brian Ekman was selling CW to us he should have used: "we are planning to implement, but maybe not depending on development time, coding problems or our UI interface and faction structure problems...." instead of "there will be" this and "there will be" that.

Well, I guess the BitterVetness in me has finally woken up to reality and accepted that unless PGI actually releases something to the Live Servers, it's just talk and doesn't deserve any consideration otherwise.

Thank you Mech the Dane for bringing to our attention that PGI has spent/had 1400+ developer days to give us what they have for CW/FW/FP.

I'm curious, even cautiously optimistic, but I'm worried there will just be something lackluster or overly ambitious.

I honestly care more about preparing my son's birthday cake, than anything that will be announced in mech con.

And here is the cake I made. Everyone in my family loves chocolate. Kinda half-ased the star pattern but what the heck. ;)

The kid themselves are not the expensive part, Daycare for both of them is.... I spend more on daycare than I do on my mortgage...

Just wait until they enter college. Daycare is nothing compared to putting a kid through college these days.

At least college/university here in Canada isn't as expensive as it is in the USA... But seriously, I'm spending $1800/month on Daycare...

One could always send them to Germany. The universities there now have free tuition for international students.

I'll keep that in mind, for when my oldest (3.5) gets to highschool, so that I can get him to focus his grades high enough.

Am I the only one that pictures the ending of the movie Heavy Metal, with the birth of a new Tarnacian?
