I find it rather difficult to have fun when I'm unable to effectively compete due to the mech I'm using.

The heat from 2x PPC or ER Large Laser builds are manageable, and give considerably better alpha damage than a single AC5 or UAC5.
The Urbie lacks the agility of most other lights, so I find maintaining distance from enemies is the best way to stay alive.

Yeah, if I want dual PPC/LL I pick a different chassis. I do like PPC and MG's, that still provides a reasonable Urbie experience. The whole point of Urbanmechs is ballistic: take advantage of the high mount and lack of actuators, stay in cover and support the fatties.

You're not using them right if you're overheating.

I own 10 different urbies, and the one that is the most fun is the 2x ER PPC build. 4 JJ, XL 180, 14 DHS and nothing but the bonus armor on. I consistently get 350-400 damage a round with it, the trick is just NOT GETTING HIT, which isn't that hard if you know what you're doing. (disclaimer: if you're new to the game, DON'T PLAY THIS BUILD. you will die.)

Anyone else going to be fitting their Urbie with a UAC/20 or a RAC/5?

I'm going to make the heavy Gauss work, probably by eliminating armor, but can still fit an erSL in there.

Im gonna RAC5 or RAC2 as soon as the new tech comes out -- i'll see first which works better. I'd probably pair RAC5 with ER-Med lasers.

I'd also try LGR and snub-noes ppc.

The new ballistics for IS just might breath some life into the Urbie.

RAC2s run twice as hot for the same DPS at a 2 ton difference.

Sure i guess. I could probably just use something like this: UM-R60L Skirmisher - (AC5 + 4x ML, XL170)

Repace AC5 wih RAC2, and the ML with ER-MLs for a viable dakka-vomit, after all i found the Skirmishing build to be the best ballistic build out there, maybe an off-shoot would work just as well. Otherwise i'd go for the RAC5 if i'd be Dakka-Centric RAC-Version of UM-R63 DAKKA - (UAC5 + 3x ML, XL145) .

My two favorite urbies are the k9 with uac2 and 5 er smalls and the loyalty urbie with 2 mrm10 and 3 er smalls. With the new light engines you have plenty of room for ammo but won't die if you lose a torso. Really opened up the build possibilities especially with all the new weapons.

Now we just need a clan variant for shatz n gigs. Posted Image
