Question.

Are we getting the Mech XP returned to us for mechs we skilled and mastered, then sold because we didn't need to retain them?

Or are we only getting the Mech XP for mechs we currently own?

I can't speak for PGI, but I do know that Trial Mech XP can be applied to the same chassis when bought. I would assume the XP counters are preserved, regardless of ownership.

Change is nature of MMO's or they get boring. But seems like trying to re-invent the wheel...again PGI. Honestly, I could care less about most of new content as it's new content. We'll see how it is when get's here. Overall, I've enjoyed most additions so far to help fund the game continuously.Posted Image

It's ripping out stuff that works for me that not liking too much. Some of my mechs I bought specifically for how the loadouts were combined with quirks. So now that's out window? There's nothing left I see that's completely OP anymore so why not legacy existing (leave as-is) and then worry about changing new? Didn't tech level and availability degrade as time past in Battletech chronology anyway? That would be a whole lot less boat rockin' / work for everyone involved?Posted Image

Then you put a sale on XP conversion not even the month (weeks) before you knew you were going to axe it? I could see if you said it up front "hey guys, come ride this out while it lasts!" But no mention at all about what had to already be pre-planned? As someone that spends $$ on the game this isn't giving me mechanized warm fuzzies about future spending to have no real in game stamina. Rent it for hour / week / month? No thanks. I don't want to learn to hate that mech I just loved last month. Posted Image

I think it could only be a bit of robotic fanboy wet dream to imagine the little C-bills that most mechs cost now to golden x3 is not going to take way more to $$ or grind out for each individual mech, pilot, w/e you label it under new system. Or that you are going to get a far shake for conversion. Never, ever, never have I seen this happen on MMO previously. All I see is folks that stock piled already getting excited as they know they'll have edge over everyone else that doesn't. And yes, I do have stock pile on every mech...but think it's bad move regardless. Especially for folks that already think some things are bit lopsided.Posted Image

I could see some of these actions if ANY of Battletech / MechWarrior projects were starving for funds (ie natural commercialism to stay alive). But PGI has people lined out door to fundstarter (pick 1 of several waves) all these projects well past their goals with nothing but a promise so far. So not really seeing justification other to follow MMO 101 to make it harder to grind so ADHD folks pay not too. This is kind of thing that will end up driving out masses to leave core few complaining that no one to fight but same folks...again.Posted Image

The proposed skill tree rules out Quad Mech and new VIP game mode will be a Streak and LRM fest, drop a VIP to get him to a other dropship ?? Its as silly as the scouting mode which have nothing to do with scouting. The Roughneck Mech is nothing new, just an other Mech, Solaris we already been playing that since 4 years, MW5 Mercs the trailer had a lore mistake and the hud was horrible. Mech_con was only good for everything else that was not PGI.

a copy paste from an other thread,

The only thing we can ask for in MWO is Mechs, when players ask for features it always turns out for the worst with PGI. Current Skill tree is more a Mechanical Optimization tree and the new one is more in the line of Adjustments.

Its clear that some trees will be mandatory like the Operation and Survival

With 75 nods only, just the Operation section to get same cooling performance as now or slightly better is 21 nods of 75 so 54 nods left. In the Survival section will cost 10 Nods for maximum Armor and Structure bonus which the values seem quite lower than the quirks we got at the moment, this means the Summoner, Cataphract, Orion, Atlas and others will feel like paper again. Left with 44 nods, the Mobility Section is divided in 2 sub-section, upper and lower chassis. Upper chassis section is 24 Nods for maximum bonuses in torso twisting and arms aiming. Some Mechs that have no use of arms except as shields its a loss of 9 Nods right there to get maximum torso bonus. Lower chassis will cost 20 nods to get Speed Tweak at same value we currently have with half of chosen nods the player may not actually want.

No nods left, no weapon nods been yet chosen, no radar deprivation and no seismic sensors. Current Skill tree give access to all bonuses, you get the modules you want and you play different variants of the Mech chosen to spice things up. In the end the current system offers way more than what they offer.

Luc, you can't say we've had Solaris for 4 years... private matches, sure, but these matches will count towards things like leaderboards. People that blame their team for losses will have to **** up and show they can carry themselves. It will showcase other skills since poptarting behind meatshields and filching locks for lurms at 800+ meters will be stupid and untenable unless you *really* know what you are doing.

The gallout will be from all the potatoes that want to do solaris but have no way to handle 1v1 with terrible ping or fps...

Actually, they will need to monitor ping differentials since the lagshield will be real in some cases. Also in some weight classes there will be new Meta builds that will need to be monitored... Streak Adder with TAG and CAP seems like it would be rather effective vs a single opposing light.

This sounds backwards to me XD

You know, most games are mostly finished when they're released, and I get we're moving away from that, and get MWO's not one of those titles, but it's still the exception to the rule. Slow development on an unreleased game is definitely worse either way though. You can't play an unreleased game and on the flip side, the devs can't profit from it without doing pre-orders.

Yeah, but buddy, the point is you've got to get mayan with this ****. That means you gotta sacrifice some of the old buffs you used to have to get new ones. It's very clear to me that survival and operation trees are not mandatory. I know I'm probably going to dabble in both, but I ain't taken the whole thing.

I already know what skills I'm putting on my Shadowcat:

-All speed tweaks.
-All turn speeds.
-All Jump Jet Efficiency.
-All PPC cooldown.
-All PPC heat gen.
-All Armor Hardening.
-All Shock Absorbence
-All Cool Run
-All Heat Containment
-All but one Quick Ignition.
-Both Seismic Sensors
-All but one Sensor Range.
-Advanced Zoom
-Two SSRM Cooldown.
-Three SSRM Range.

Ah, thanks.
I still wonder what are those letters stand for, but anyways, it looks awesome.

Inverse Kinematics. Based on iteration of intersection of two radii which represents bone length in the limb with correct order. For example human leg is virtually composed from os femur(one radius), os tibia/fibula(second radius) and you are searching for their intersection when moving with the foot. In other words: inverse kinematics means you drive your foot and your knee is automaticaly doing its work. It is one of the animation methods using during character animation(second one is FK, forward kinematic method when you just rotate or move bones themselves). In the game engines it is a bit new method so cry engine(otherwise very crappy engine) as the "older" one has really bad optimisation for this feature. In comparison unreal engine 4 is really modern and well optimised with whole palette of IK tools(IK is able to be used for very wide area of animation styles, arms/torso aswell).

I respectfully disagree. With a unreleased game the devs have budget concerns to be sure, the players can get over-hyped during the long wait, and maybe the game is never released for one reason or another. While it might be a bummer not much is lost if it never comes to fruition. Slow development on a released game compounds most of those problems and creates new ones. With a released game the hype is no longer a problem because reality has set in, and in the case of slow development it becomes a frustrating wait instead of a hopeful wait. Players are more likely to be unhappy and spend less on a game that feels unfinished and that is barely trickling out content(in particular when that content is broken or barely functional). You get into a endless cycle of people becoming unhappy and spending less because development is slow and sloppy, however on the other side of things since revenue continues to drop your development slows down as you try to compensate and cut corners/costs. It is a hard cycle to break.

Wow pgi can't win, change nothing and people complain. Try something new and people will complain. The way i see it, the new skill tree concept will be another way to reward paying customers indirectly since it will be a *bear* to get all dat xp w/o premium time...

They need money cause they are small and there is no issue with that. People have a this kind of approach towards them and who to blaim? I mean they did mean things in the past. Even PGI admitted this in their post...

I don't really pay for a game which treats itself as free-to-play game. However, it is natural that if you pay for premium time you develop faster... Another multiplayer game which is way more advanced that MWO is WoT and it works the same way. The only difference is that the game engine, its UI and the all around package is superior compared to MWO. I mean my 3 years old laptop can run it with ~60 fps on high settings, while MWO runs ~30 fps on low/med settings. Is it my fault that PGI optimized the game for Nvidia cards? No, but I won't pay to a company which lowers my entertainment just because I use HW from a different manufacturer... Screw that!

Sorry for the personal part. So it needs time to change people and make them forget the past. It looks like they (PGI) try hard to do something good with this game. Lets hope the best, as everyone deserves a second chance.

They try hard because they are useless. They already chose sh*tty engine and that started their dumb martyrium ...

I develop code for a living but not in the gaming industry... i don't know the inherent differences between the engines but there may have been reasons why they chose what they did. Was it availability of devs in canada? Was it licensing costs? Was it the API had the appearance of good flexibility?

Most of you are too young to remembet this but could it be likened to the VHS vs Betamax war of the early 80s? Where it may not have been obvious back at tje design which was better?

Beta-VHS war, I remember that. I doubt that MWO will change engine and I also doubt that MWO will change for the better.

Yep...and JVC's VHS won because it was cheaper and offered better recording times. Sony's Beta had originally been optimized for the commercial television industry, and this was shown in the higher quality construction of its machines and the higher quality recording/playback it offered. The home consumer on the other hand wanted the ability to record things like complete sporting events and movies off their tv, and didn't care about slightly inferior picture/sound quality to do it, as long as they could and that they saved several hundred dollars per VCR using the VHS format.

hey Dee exactly the words of my dad back in the day. I remember my dad revering picture and sound quality of beta but stuck with VHS as it was more widespread.

I still maintain that FW 4.1 will see a short spike but will die again quickly.

The skill tree while more flexible, it offers less, check how much you can get with 75 nods and check, lets say quirks of an Atlas, skills maxed and modules The new proposed skill tree rules out quads too.

Solaris 1vs1, waste of time we already got quick play.

Roughneck, just an other mech.

December roadmap, its a joke.

I still disagree on this one point. Coming into the match 1v1 and being the last 2 on the field after a 12v12 is vastly different. If anything it will give the solo tryhards a play to puff their chest instead of yelling at their teammates.
