Ok, Who Is Still Not Happy And Why?

The best thing about the announcements wasn't even for MWO. MWO is paying for MW5 mercs, which I hope is decent but certainly doesn't do anything for MWO does it.
Skill trees could end up with a lot of teething issues, I'm mildly concerned.
FP ideas are probably an improvement, since the mode is currently in a sad state, it wasn't really a Mechcon announcement as we already knew the bucket changes and the game mode for a while.
Best thing imo for MWO could very well be mech collision improvements. No really, this was the one thing to do with MWO I was definitely hyped about.

Now I fear for the future of PGI's support for (this) MWO after 2018 and wonder if MWO will be ported to the new engine, or not, and if it is, will our accounts and inventory carry over?

Promises aren't deliveries.
Hype isn't execution.
"We took years to implement a non-placeholder skill tree, you know, that thing all other MMOs start out with" doesn't bode well for the quality/balance/updates of the thing they haven't actually delivered on. In fact it smacks of 'we're sticking this in to give you something to keep you busy while we work on something else entirely'.
Basically, I worry about a gaming developer that doesn't seem to understand its' client market very well, doesn't feel the need to communicate with them in order to understand them better, consistently 'gets it wrong' when 'fixing' the game, takes years to implement or update basic features, but then decides 'A New Hope' is the way to make it all better. It smacks of smoke and mirrors, hey, send us money while we work on 'something cool' to be 'delivered later'.
I wish PGI success and hope for some entertaining/engaging 'mech play in the future, but I honestly have my expectations set to 'less than nothing' because past indications have shown their's not much payoff in hoping for more than that.

Reason: PGIs history of delivering on what they announce.
The only thing I expect to see that was announced is the mechs. The other stuff will be delivered in such a way that you will wish they hadn't and then they will try to band-aid it.
MW5? Great. I'll give them money after they complete it and I see some solid reviews from the media.
This Mechwarrior feels Conned.

That is what I care about and Mechcon simply confirmed that bucket reduction is PGI's sole immediate "solution" to what their admitted indifference to the mode has wrought. Rather than addressing that, once again, freely admitted indifference, and giving the mode a well needed jolt of, well: complete overhaul; they are doing the bucket bandaid and providing only vague promises (as usual) to do more at some point.
I should be ecstatic by this? Pleased? Not disappointed?
FIx your god damn "end game" content and then I will be pleased with any ole mechcon you choose to hold in the future, but as for this one...it just didn't do much for me.

1) doing no lore mechs means .... even less lore than now. With all those lore mechs we are still waiting???
Boycott Roughmeh.
2) no real content for months, waiting months for Mechcon to present something concrete...but we must wait months and months again.
3) the """new""" things, are not new but re-worked ones.
4) new mech title means MWO is just frozen like it is, and forever.

Why? Becuase they are just words and PGI has always had a hard time delivering on those words. I hope they can, if they want me to buy MW5 they need to get better a delivering what they say not the half finished stuff we have gotten from them in the past.

1. Roughneck. I was disappointed with this reveal. I would say that it isn't about them doing a new mech but it kinda is. I will say that making it an industrial mech souped up for Solaris was a good way to handle it. Mechs like that don't become common until the dark ages. It's just out of place. There are lot of mechs on people's wishlist that are doable right now. Dervish and Crusader are two that immediately come to mind. There was no need to invent a new one. Part of it is disappointment with the hype.
2 MW5. Cool. Not related to MWO as far as I can tell. Seeing as how it's being made on a different engine I don't know how much crossover there would be.
3. New game modes. I've not looked at these that closely which means the announcement didnt wow me enough to investigate. We've been hearing new game modes are coming for a while.
4. Skill tree. This was long overdue. I kinda think it will promote mech specialization. You can devote a lot of time to mad out your favorite mechs and potentially become known for piloting those mechs. Quirk and module removal is nice but is basically just getting rolled into the skill trees. If there is truth to the removal of the 3 mech rule then that is the best news I've heard from MWO in a long time.
I'm still in a wait and see more. In the past mechs have kinda brought me back but I've already passed on the Bushwaker and Assassin. TDM does not interest me much. FW remains a mess and there is nothing new mechanics wise, such a melee or a stock queue, that would make me want to put up with TDM.
and I'd add all these points are not new content at all.
1) mechpack
2) mw5M means death of mwo development
3) most of game modes are re-worked ones---> no new content
4) skilltree---> another skilltree---> no new content

When PGI improves their Communication with the Community this will change, I feel they do a piss poor job of this and a bunch of flowery words at mechcon do not change that opinion. They need to deliver and improve on how they communicate with the community for me to want to give the any more moeny for MWO or MW5.

The skill tree I'm not even sure is a good idea. It may be corporate suicide, actually. If each mech takes much, much longer to grind and can't be easily reconfigured, there's going to be a vastly reduced incentive to buy mechs. The fun of buying mechs is experimenting with them and then having them for use. If it takes months of work to optimize a single mech, there's suddenly no reason to buy many new ones. And their package model makes suddenly *no* sense since you no longer need three variants. That could dry up a huge chunk of their income. I ordered the $20 Roughneck to lock in PO bonuses (colors, notably), but if PTS in January shows massive grind, I will be refunding all of my preorders and cherry-picking variants for CB in the future, if I continue to play at all, which I likely won't because, among other reasons, fixed skill trees is a nightmare for comp, where lots of small tweaks and builds for the particular situation are de rigeur.
EDIT: Two exceptions. Non-canon (or Neo-canon?) mech. Why? So much unmined nostalgia. That just makes no sense to me.

Something to give me a reason to put forth the effort to play this game.
12 v 12 is fun once in a while but I i wont be playing as often as i use to any more.
No, i'm not going to quit. You just wont see me much any more.
I'm very disappointed. The 1v1 map looks so great but I'm not going to buy premium to play it.

New skill tree scares me though. I'm excited to get a rework, but nuking quirks and modules doesn't seem like it'll turn out well. Especially quirks: as weird as they are design-wise, they give most IS mechs a much needed boost out of the box, while also being highly tunable and fun to play with.
I'm waiting until there's more info out about it, but I'm not seeing how it'll help mech balance instead of hurting it.

I would have shown the clips, talked in depth about the new content and then offered up a Q & A session. Another wasted opportunity from a company who really doesn't have a clue when it comes to marketing and customer relations.
