If you think Eight digital skins of reflective yellow for 500 USD makes "sense".. you either have no concept of the value of money or you have so much of it it has no value to you.

For 10000$ you're getting a handful of Ships that can be bought with ingame currency later
So they have lifetime insurance

What if you can buy insure for 6 months periods that are fair priced later on?

A gold mech is a 240$ paint job

That kind of money doesn't get me that far in SC black market

These ships are huge in detail and scale. It's hard to present a good scale, but if you look at the size of a human on that picture and think about it that you can actually walk inside entirety of this ship with several decks and many corridors and rooms, including a small landing hangar for a fighter jet, it's basically a whole fps level.

I have a ship that's about 1/4 of size of the one I linked (a space gas tanker with refinery onboard), and it took me about 5 minutes just to find where the bridge is on that one, and you can still get lost inside it (not to mention the huge ingame value and role they have).

It's crazy money and no it's not worth prepaying so much for anything ingame, but compared to 250$ paint job for just one mech skin it's another thing, compared to how much work goes into something like SC (and they say their ships are being expensive). Here is a 350$ priced space craft, for comparison. Even if it's an unfinished game, it's still impressive and much more than just a paint scheme. I was just saying they could have at least give you gold skin for all Invasion mechs for that price, not just one, and actually more people might consider it, this way it was just really greedy.

I played a bunch of games yesterday plenty should have seen my Dire Wolf (G) with CAKE on the front!

The last time I saw a gold mech (roughly as rare as seeing a phoenix mech) was about 3 months ago. Took out a gold stormcrow with my KGC in the 'tunderdome' of HPG Manifold. To say the least, a couple AC20's to the face showed him he came to the wrong neighborhood wearing that bling.

I would say I see a gold mech roughly 3 or 4 times a year, I am due for a sighting any game now.

I know a player who has at least three gold mechs on his own, maybe four. He's also quite proficient at this game.

Much like some of the people who are heavily financially invested in Star Citizen, they have the interest and disposable income to spend on such things.

I have a Gold Timber Wolf (because I could only afford one, and it had to be iconic). I've been playing it quite regularly now that my Jester is retired. Not doing well in it, though, might have something to do with the crown royal northern harvest I've been hoarding whenever I see it in store...

None of the colors are close enough to the gold to pull it off, though, as far as I can tell.

I piloted my Gold Dire Wolf about a week ago. It's mastered so I don't run it that often. Surprisingly, no one gives me any crap about it, unlike all the vitriolic threats forum warriors slung back when they were available.

Would be nice if there were gold, steel, copper colors. I am using some kind of orange at the moment to get as close as possible to gold/copper.

Only the Dire Wolf is the genuine article. The rest are clever color schemes. They all look good though
