Netcode and spawn actors are all part of UE4. It's easy. Try it for yourself. https://www.unrealengine.com

As for COOP? I would love that and it doesn't need to be more complicated that spawning in 1 more player in a mech that was picked before hand. Just wait and see. Maybe that will happen? Maybe it will happen in MWO?

Co-op would mean that MW5 would be competing directly against MWO so that is why they are making MW5 a single player only title. Of course I am not sure how well this is going to go over since most of the people clamoring for a new stand alone MW game title, also want Co-op and multiplayer to go along with it just like MW4 had.

Also as much as I like Single Player games, unless the campaign is 40-60 hours minimum or better yet and open sandbox game without a defined ending, I am not interested. I used to love Call of Duty single player but the first time I managed to complete the entire campaign in 10 hours, was the last time I bought a Call of Duty title.

Lastly, the people clamoring for a single player game experience were necessarily asking for a stand alone title, they were asking for a single player game mode to be added to MWO so they could actually use the 100s of mech they have invested in on MWO in that mode too.

MWO is PVP. PVP is not coop. Even when you team up.

Co-Op overwhelmingly implies PVE. Missions, quests, objectives, story progression.

PVP alone is not co-op. Although it is multiplayer.

In MWO there is no AI, no mission objectives, no combined arms or mission scripting. There is a very thin shell call faction play which is a glorified matchmaker.

MWO is arena combat in a decade+ old formulaic sense. It offers no meaningful difference aside from explosions, ip and avatar from: WoT, WoWS, WT, Overwatch, CoD, TitanFall, It monetizes the same, it progresses the same, it has slightly different lobbying.

-----

Co-op is the trend.

If you're looking at games already released you're looking 2-4years too late. Any trend you identify there is a tail end of the previous industry move.

Co-Op games already out examples: Vermintide, Destiny, The Bureau
Co-Op games in development example: Deathwing, many others

MW5 is ripe for co-op

Don't get me wrong I enjoy MWO, but its gotten REAL old. But then, so have all the other arena shooters for me. I still play but only to bide time until other good titles catch our groups' eyes.

I will still always pop into MWO because of the ultra low time commit, which as a working dad is a thing.

In fact.... I can't recall the last time I played a game that had a good in depth story line/campaign plus had good co-op.
There always seemed to be a problem with coordinating the story amongst the players, who had lead, what happened if one player hit a story point while others were still in the think of things, keeping the group together etc.

Well if the PvE uses similar structure to previous mechwarrior games the story unfolds around a series of missions.

You get some plot...a mission to do some post mission plot then a mission that drives the plot onward and so forth.

Since co-op would imply the players are cooperating on a mission together then they would be completing the same mission together and therefore forward the plot together by completing the missions that drive the plot forward.
