I guess it boils down to what a potential MWO2 is? If it is an entirely new game and a fresh start then just moving my account and no mechs would probably be acceptable. Although, I'm not sure I would support the game in the way I supported this one for so long. Too many burned bridges at this point. However, if a potential MWO2 is essentially just a re-skin of MWO to a new engine for the sake of consistency between it and MW5(and for that matter to have a easier to work with engine than what we have) I would expect that all of my items/mechs/c-bills/etc. would be transferred. Honestly, if they switched engines it might be enough for me to start rebuilding some of those burnt bridges.

It really is going to depend on PGI and what 2.0 would mean to them. Is it more like a storytelling or filmaking 2.0 to them, where they use the opportunity to move to somewhere else in the timeline and what tech we have in 1.0 is simply irrelevant? New accounts all around, maybe some cockpit swag showing you had an active account in 1.0.

Or is it more like a software 2.0, where it's more of a forward iteration of what existed previously to allow the game to just carry on under the MWO (no 1.0 or 2.0 nomenclature involved) banner but simply with better tech driving the project forward into the future? Accounts moved unchanged into the improved MWO.

Here's a question - Why do some people have such a hard on for 'MWO2?'

It improves nothing, except maybe graphics (From an engine change), yet presents multiple problems for the user base, including financially.

So here's a question - What possible benefit would there be from PGI torching MWO and starting MWO2, and not carrying accounts over for free?

In an article Russ posted it was said that UE4 let's them do things faster
Maybe the tools for map making/ modelling are more refined or easier

And not being the only game on the market to be so cpu dependent might be a good thing too

In an effort to prevent the salty old guy syndrome (aka the SOGS), would people be OK with swapping if they offered you the option to transfer over all of your mechs (just mechs mind you) for a flat fee? I will admit I am free to play , mostly because every time I consider spending money I see another questionable thing occur, but I would enjoy the option in exchange for not losing a ton of hours I have put into the game to date.

Realistically I do not imagine they would do this for free (pretty much no game does) but I think it is a pretty good compromise since the art will be reused for MWO2 if we get there.

My free stuff, which is very little yes
I'd be fine for a fee
Nvidia dawn and razor dice say hello for instance

But the stuff I bought with cold hard better come over for free

Maybe. I don't know. How much are we talking about to move accounts, and why only mechs?

This would be so far away, even if it would be a thing, that were talking 2020 or something like

It's not like anyone would know
Or for even Russ to guesstimate

But
