remember if they stop making mechs for a while or reduce the number of mechs made, thats unspent resources that need to be put somewhere else.


Frankly I'd like it if they reduce the pace with mechs a bit and could try other revenue streams as well

Hey if they can build and sell me a hangar like in Star Citizen I'd be happy about that too

      However...
      I'd love to know the answer to this particular question though:

      Would They ( mech production team) be sitting there doing nothing If mech production is slowed down (say, one every 2 months)?
      There would be new tasks to assign to them. And that means more stuff in other areas than mechs.

        I voted 'No'

        due to the fact, that the Clans are sorely lacking in some areas, like the 20 ton Light to match the other Inner Sphere Lights. Only viable enough to handle that is the Arctic Cheater. And it's doing fair to good. If the Fire Moth came into the game, then that would add some seriousness to the Clan Arsenal.

        The Fire Moth has the speed capability of the Locust, plus MASC, which'll give it some means to keep up, and it has the firepower to outdo that Locust, and a few other Inner Sphere Lights, namely outgun the Firestarter and Spider.

        On another note, there are some Second Line `Mechs that can help bolster the Touman. Like the Griffin IIC, Shadow Hawk IIC, Horned Owl, Glass Viper, Stone Rhino, Bane, Warhammer IIC, Phoenix Hawk IIC, Clint IIC, Command IIC, Locust IIC, and that's just for starters.

        Trick question.

        Do i want PGI to stop making mech? No.

        Do i want PGI to stop making heavies? Yes.

        Do i want PGI to close their biggest source of cash(that we know of). No.

        Do i wish mechpack werent the only thing we get? Yes.

        Do i think new mech impede the making of new pattern/camo and retrofit? yes.

        Would i rather get new interesting pattern instead of new mech? Yes.

        Do i wish PGI advance the time line and open a can of worm? No.

        Do i believe that the fact i joined more than 3 years ago influence my answer? Yes.

        Do i believe new players to be overwhelmed with all the mech already in the game? Yes. the 3 mech rule is thankfully about to get terminated and should help that.

        Can the employees doing the mech do something else at pgi or are they laid off? because that would heavily influence my answer as well.

        What is Russ trying to prove or find out? Let new players buy whats already there? move artist to mw5? is it a retort to "do you want a mech pack" meme, missing the point of that meme?

        He didnt say anything really. Thats wanting to involve us in the MWO development without telling us anything. This isnt about if we think theres enough mech in the game and you know that. Its about what else he would be doing. Thats the important part thats missing to give an answer.

        SEE? If that is Russ plan, then he should let us know. Hell! i would be all over more stuff in mwo that isnt purely battlemech but related to. Hangar? fk yes. Lore/history written in game when you buy or own a mech? sign me in. Right now, we hit the store, buy a piece of equipment and click "join", the process could be more interesting.

        People constantly asking for more Mechs when thats the Monetizing model they chose by selling mechs and mech packs is why we the other parts of the game are stale to almost non existant

        Things the mech modeling team could work on besides mechs:

        1. Map items such as destructible walls, vehicles, buildings
        2. New camo patterns instead of creating the same camo patterns for new mechs
        3. Discovery of the color pink (not Marik Violet)
        4. New/different mechbay artwork instead of old #4
        5. Porting assets over to Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries
        5.1 Read "How to 3-D model for Unreal 4 for dummies"
        6. Custom geometry
        7. Figuring out how to integrate additional 'false' hitboxes for extraneous mech geometry (i.e. missile bay doors damage doesn't count for torso damage, shield arms shielding, phoenix hawk bunny ears, etc)

        I have to admit, I am the type of person who gets bored quickly so I need a new mech fairly often or else I will get bored and find something else to do. Also I am still waiting on my favorite mechs like the Wardog, Tempest, Stealth, Vixen, Goshawk, etc so until those get in, there can never be enough mechs.

        No you got it all wrong. Everyone grips about PGI adding mech packs when they aren't adding any other new content. They aren't actually griping about adding new mechs.
