Just a curiosity about the marketing strategy.
Having early adopter rewards; sure, that is a nice idea to get support for the design of a mech etc. But what is the point of buying a mech pack, before the release of said mech, if you do not get anything extra? You could just basically wait a couple of days and see if it is worth your value. I'm sure many wouldn't buy a viper anymore after seeing them in action.
I think this gap should be filled with something to lure in customers too. It could be the early adopter rewards, or smaller versions of it.

With the new skill tree system, PGI might change their mech pack strategy. We'll see.

I would probably get the MAD IIC if there was still something on offer pre release wise. Not that I need the prelease stuff... but its just off putting enough (for me personally) that I'm gonna wait for cbill release.

This (no pre-order rewards beyond a certain point 3+ months pre-release) has been a frequent point of discussion/complaint.
However I'd assume enough people buy during the post-Early Adopter/pre-Release window, because PGI hasn't changed policy.
My guess to purchase motivation: The experience of owning something, not having to wait...more accurately getting closer to the desired object since you cannot quite touch it.
