I can explain (trying to be objective).
Helm had a thread up. It got closed by, I believe it's actually "Irbandul Mike" because "the OP doesn't appear interested".
Other people were complaining that it was a very similar thread to others, but it was up and then down in about 6 hours.
Judgment: It was unfair to take that thread down citing the OP's disinterest in such a short time.
I honestly can't remember what it was about, but it wasn't anything terribly different from the standard flow of other stuff.

I remember that thread. Mod shouldn't haven even given OP a chance to change the original post - It was just raging, with no attempt at discussion. Should have killed it on principle.
That being said, once you give someone a 'warning,' the thread should have had more time.
But that being said, I find it hard to give a crap on OPs behalf.

Mike and I had a great chat via PM concerning this very matter, and I can't wait for them to weigh in here.
My thoughts on the matter:
1. OP is similar to many other threads and probably could've used a touch up on wording to be more clear and precise with the nature of the complaint,
2. Thread was locked a tad prematurely,
3. According to Mike thread merging causes issues with posts, otherwise it would be considered as a solution to this problem more often.
I'd like to add more, but I'm curious as to what Mike will have to say, and I fear I've already overstepped my bounds sharing as I have. I'll just wait for them before posting again.

Clarifications:
Making posts that can be called salty just before going to bed or work might seem like a good idea but it isn't in most cases. I wouldn't recommend it and I usually don't do it myself. I check in later again, just to see if people agree or not. That might be different in your case. So perhaps I closed it too fast, seeing your lack of reacting as not being interested. I could have locked it without giving you the 2 hours I did, just because the topic is already discussed in multiple other threads, which might have been the better alternative.
Please enlighten me, how the topics in your thread differed from the others concerning the same topics and why the need for a new thread was there.
Merging the thread with others similar to it might have been an option, but like SeaLabCaptn said before, there are certain problems.
For example the post order gets screwed up. I think the forum just takes the timestamp of the posts and arranges the merged topic accordingly. That is not a problem if both threads are not active in the same timeframe. For those discussions that are quite active it disrupts more than it helps AND it does have the problem that everyone has to reread all the posts (mostly without getting new information or insights into other posters).
I closed another thread with the "same topic" problem. It would be much easier if the same topic would be handled in the same thread instead spread over the forums. Especially if the discussion is mostly between the same people... saying the same things over and over... and stepping on each others toes.
Your topic here is actually not constructive either. You could have just written a PM to me and asked to reopen the topic.
You could have asked the community about how long a topic that has a mod involved with the request to change the OP should stay open to give the OP the chance to do as asked (if necessary).
There are a few more things that could have been done. Including reporting my action with the request to open the thread up again.
