I think the new skill tree is kind of like the 2nd config of Legend of Zelda, like when you beat the game, or create a player profile with the name ZELDA.
Discuss.

Did it suddenly become a regular thing to try and confuse me? You're all working together on this, aren't you? It's a conspiracy, I tell you! A conspiracy!

When we all learned to play Legend of Zelda, it had a defined map. A route, per se, of where you had to do one objective after the other in order to fully complete the game. We learned how to Master the game based on that map and those particular secret entrances, castle contents, etc.
Now, with he new skill tree, we will have to remaster everything again. We have to go back into the game and master it all over again, however it will be slightly different this time. Like in Legend of Zelda, the second playthrough has the majority of map/feature locations moved around, however it's still based on the same overall game (the main doors to locations are still there, but the locations inside are different, and all the secret entrances are moved around).. Everything you "mastered" from before will be new(ish) again.
You'll lose that feeling that you mastered the game.
You'll gain a feeling of having a new opportunity to master something different this time, albeit by using the same types of weapons and inventory items again.

No! It's all very simple! He is me, I am he, but they are not me and I am not you. Understand?

Many Legend of Zelda games have certain modes - sometimes activated by having fully beaten the game, or by putting specific names into the character name choice - that turn the normal adventure on its head. For instance, it may place key items needed for progressing from stage to stage in the game in different dungeons than in the main adventure, thus requiring that the game be played in a different order and manner than the base game.
For all intents and purposes, the components of the game are exactly the same, but simply rearranged so as to create the illusion that it is new and different - thus compelling you to play through what is essentially the exact same game all over again from scratch.

In the original NES Zelda if you created a new save file with the name "ZELDA" it allowed you to play the 2nd quest, usually only playable by beating the game. Now get off my lawn you damn kids!
