I almost joined a Clan, until they hit me with a 14 million initiate fee. When I asked what its used for and why so much, they got kinda pissy about it and basically told me to STFU and pay it like everyone else. I didn't join.

Sorry you lost your virtual credits. I hope you didn't pay real money for them.

Just thought I'd drop in and let you guys know that MercStar is alive and well. Anyone who is willing to work as a team is welcome to come drop with us, whether you are in the unit itself or not.

For those of you asking what happened, all I will say is there were differences in opinions on the future of the unit and a lack of communication from unit leadership to unit membership. As a result of the differences and resulting actions, some sub-units have gone back to their own individual units. Those of us who do not agree with the decision to disband have remained and reformed as MercStar Gaming [(MS)].

As far as any prior recruitment fees and the funds now locked up in the inactive [-MS-] unit, all I can say is sorry. Unfortunately the removal of members from the unit was the action of one of the units that chose to leave.

In regards to recruitment fees for the current [(MS)] unit, at this time we are not requiring new members to payback costs related to their invitations. That said invitations are limited by our unit coffer so donations are always appreciated. If we ever end up having an empty coffer invites will be put on hold unless the potential recruit or an existing member is willing to cover the cost.

It's used to pay for your entrance into the unit. I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but the cost of inviting someone to a unit increases by 50,000 cbills for every person in the unit.
