How Do You Like The Added Voice Acting?

I would assume this is being added to today's patch. There's a lot of voice acting in this video. Before the mission, the angry Clan Man explains the mission objectives. During the mission, the angry Clan Man keeps you updated about the progress (e.g. "half your enemies are dead") and at the end of the mission, if you win, the angry Clan Man is somewhat appeased by your performance.

Do you like it? Will you mute it? Long overdue? Not enough? Too much?

I for one am happy to see it in-game. I just hope they've added enough lines in there to provide some real variation. I wouldn't want to hear the same canned response after every Skirmish victory. I hope there's at least 3 or 4 different variations to every situation.

And I really, really, really wish they would add an Inner Sphere and a Clan version of the Command Wheel. "Aff" and "Neg" should replace "Affirmitive" and "Negative", right off the bat.

I did like it, but I like your name for him more. Angry Clan Man. Fits perfectly.

I just hope IS mechs hear a different voice...

The "half the team's dead" head's up is very good addition, especially for modes such as Conquest and Domination.

There will be different voice for the IS. CW had something like this for a while...

I hope he gets progressively more aggressive and angry and gravely the worse your team is doing.

Voice acting can be useful to remind to player like "Enemy dominating the circle!" in Domination Mode, "Enemy attacking in our base!" in Assault Mode, "Enemies hava almost win! Stop them!" in Conquest Mode, etc so it's neat addition to the game.

I first read this as "passive aggressive". Which would have been really funny. An MWO version of GLaDOS.

I like it, just that, angry clan man needs to be changed to sound more stern, composed and professional when things are going as normal and excited or furious when you're either winning or losing.

Then again, the IS version is just as monotone. The guy sounds like a wimpy little twig all day every day.

Not enough, I want more now.

I could not agree more about the command wheel!

This is great. Adds flavor and livens thing up.

I love it in concept... nice and immersive. In practice I suspect I'll get tired of the phrases after a while.

I'll definitely keep the Angry Clan Man switched on, on my clanner alt, because I play that account so rarely anyway.

Perhaps _this_ is the true identity of Angry Clan Man. It would explain why he is so angry, because that Clan Man was an ANGRY Clan Man.

I would have loved an easter egg that revealed the true identity of Angry Clan Man, but I always found Malthus' voice to be a lot softer and more menacing. Almost like Roose Bolton, although not quite that far.

... when there two-thirds of the enemies were still alive.


He said "the enemy has started to chip away at us"
... when no friendlies had even died.


He said "two hostiles are remaining"
... when there was only one enemy left.






... so I don't like it already. You mean to tell me we're going to have to put up with this sh** in private lobbies (ie., competitive league matches) and quickplay as well? I'd enjoy it if it were CW only.

I guess I can just mute it.

You're not looking at the bigger picture.

How do you calculate one half of 3 people? You can't. So the code is choosing the closest possible to 1/2, which is 1/3 or 2/3. Remeber: Matches are 12v12! That message will play when 6 have died.

As for "chipping away," that doesn't mean someone had to die. Every time that played both mechs were below 70%.

Yeah, I noticed that he said half the enemies were dead when only 1 of 3 had been killed. When he says "they have started to chip away", I wonder if that's because the AI looks at the health of all mechs and when the collective health has reached 80%, he says something to that effect.

I have no idea why he would say "two hostiles" remaining when there was only one though. I didn't watch that part.

But it's kinda the glass half full thing. Is the glass "only" half full, or is it "still" half full?

I'd interpret "only half remain" as if you have the upper half. Therefore it should sound when more than half the mechs are down in cases where there are an odd number of mechs.

If he had said "half the enemy still remains!" then I think that would be okay to sound when less than half the mechs are down in the case of odd number of mechs.

Either way, half of three mechs is one plus a half of a mech. You wouldn't say half of those mechs are down after you've only put down one mech. You'd wait until you finish the second one, because that's certainly beyond the half-way point without being before it.

I'd like to see how it does under adverse conditions like Tourmaline Desert with a light spamming it with Flamers.

I really really really hope that you have the ability to turn this voice chatter off. It will get old fast. Or at very least they should do it in an Asian lilt for Capellan, Japanese accent for DCMS, Germanic for Steiner etc.
