Does the 6 MG Spider finally have a devastating effect on the back of an Atlas, like it was said to in legend?

First match in a 4xMG 2xLL Urbanmech

Enjoy them before they're nerfed into oblivion again.

Just checked in the testing ground, 13 seconds with 7 MGs on the Shadowcat to kill an Atlas firing on its rear CT. I think I can finally use a non-lore build and have fun again.

I just hope the balance overlord doesn't read this and think a nerf is necessary. 13 seconds with SEVEN of any weapon system to kill a mech in the back, stationary, is a long time :-P But its better than it was, so yay!

keep in mind that the testing grounds have standart armour values... aka way more in the back than the average player would do

And keep in mind that this 13 seconds are against a stock Atlas with20 armor points in the rear side torso and 28 in the rear center. Now do the test with the frontloaded armour that everybody has.

Enjoy...

I'm happy. But I am also not optimistic that this will last. Tears will flow and MGs will be nerfed.

Balance Overlord effectively threw his hands in the air and hired a new guy to do it who reports to him and Russ, so, safe to say the new MG's will stay since they aren't instant gib territory. It is also why we get all that blue text explaining why things got changed in patch notes. Whoever the new person is, glad you are around, fresh eyes are very much helping this game.

I admit, that of the incoming changes, this is one I am looking forward to the most. Each weight class I have at least one "machine gun build" that has been neglected for a long time, and now they might get dusted off and brought out (at least until PGI nerfs em again...so enjoy it while it lasts). Hell, I might even rebuild the ole troll Jagger DD with 2 LPL or 2PPC and 6 MGs just for old time sake.

More important than the core-an-Atlas kill time is the notion that machine guns might actually live up to their supposed ability to add some 'free' DPS to a lighter 'Mech build. Any chance a Viper or Ember or anything else has to pop fire for a couple-odd seconds against a distracted target, those machine guns can now land their damage more reliably, and still without impacting the heat bar. They're still awful at facetime fights and worse than pulse lasers for straight brawling, but they're possibly a decent supplement for cowardly conniving backstabbers now.

Conniving backstabbers?
Screw that! I'm putting em on my Maulers (for an evening or two).
