Not because the event itself is bad, but the players are making it nearly impossible. I tried for 5 hours to get an Escort mission in order to complete the challenge. The mode itself came up decently often, though not as often as I'd have liked, but only twice did the players actually vote for it and on those I was on the wrong side to actually complete the achievement. What the hell guys? I mean, I get you might not like the mode or have already completed the daily event, but why screw over those who haven't?

Well, it's a lot easier to not vote for a specific mode than to try to save up modifiers to get the one you want.

That's interesting. In my experience perhaps every time the escort mode has been offered, the players selected it.

Between the 20 or so games last night and 50 games today I have had escort come up about 8 times and was defender each time.


Can people please go Tweet Russ about how bulls*** it is to make a mode or side of a mode a requirement?

I already have but I think if I do it again he'll block me.

The prize is an Atlas cockpit item. Which obscures your view.

Yup. I take a look at the rewards and just do the ones that are low-hanging fruit, like 3x KMDD. If I'm having fun, I stick around. If not, I go play World of Warships or something else. You have to go about the 'luck to complete' missions as a bonus during your day of playing, otherwise you'll just get p!ssed off the longer the stars don't align for you.

My problem is, I want the atlas statue.
Even if I don't use it.
And I like seeing all those ticks in a line.

But there comes a point where you simply can't, and challenges like this that are purely RNG are awful.

In over 5 hours play, I got Escort: Attacker twice.
One of those a player suicided at the start and both games my team damn near ran around like headless chickens,

There started to be a trend of people voting against Escort too.

Having the reward reliant on getting a random game mode (one of 5) pop up, be voted for, then a 50/50 chance of being on the right side is frankly absurd.

You've got at best a 20% chance of even getting the correct game mode, then have to actually achieve it....

It took a bleeding 10x vote multiplier to get escort for me today. Thank God I was on the attack and we won.

You could employ the same strategy I was 4 other players use today: drop in QP, don't get Attack on Escort? Suicide at beginning of match and try again. Reported them all but it probably doesn't do much to deter their behaviour.

I don’t even care, it was just about the fun of getting free stuff, but this way there is no fun…

Kind of weird how many people are complaining about being on defense every time. It's happened to me as well. At first I brushed it off as simply chance. In any large group of people dropping multiple times with a 50% chance of being attacker or defender, there's going to be some people who happen to roll attacker or defender every time. It's random.

But who knows how MM works. Maybe it's not so random after all. There could be some bad code somewhere.

Turns out it is actually WAAAY less than 20%

Turns out that escort is only available for 4 or 5 of the maps meaning anytime a map that isn't setup for it comes up, which is quite often the case, it won't be available.




This was the most frustrating crap since the Victor mech challenge, but even I could complete that in a short amount of time. Today's is impossible.

Yeh ok, this one was bad. I really didnt care too much about it, as I already have a free Zombie Atlas from Halloween, but I am a bit of a completionist, so was happy to finally lead a group to victory.

Because when you vote for it you are screwing over people who want to have fun and not get stuck in the crowning achievement of garbage that is Escort mode.

PGI has a history of making Challenges that are mostly out of your control to complete.

Anyone else remember the fiasco when you had to win a certain number of games on all the maps but map selection was random so most people were battling RNG Jesus more than other mechs to complete the challenge?

That one was the worst by far.

I'll just continue working on my new gaming/work station composed of a custom-made desk and RSeat RS1 with mounted Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog joystick and throttle, T.Flight rudder pedals, and iPads as control boxes.
