Ok so i have a scouting drop deck (Which is only one mech) I never played FW before so i have no idea what to do. I would like to do the challenge tonight. So how do i go about this? do i have to join a faction? Or do i sign a contract? how do i go about this to do a scouting match?

You generally join a faction or join mercs then your unit signs a contract. The faction or contract dictates whether you use IS or Clan mechs. Most people bring a tough in your face 50-55 ton mech, scouting can be done with lights, but it usually isn't.
Call to arms, not sure how it works now, is how you can do matches without joining a faction or signing a contract. That's the little thing in the bottom right of the main screen telling you there is a battle going on.
After joining a faction or merc group (which is technically a faction) you can't gain reputation for 10 matches, so grind out 10 scouting. After that you can gain rep and reap the rewards, particularly the juicy mech bays.

You can either join a unit (which is the better course, look for units in the FW forums), or create a unit yourself. Then you can join the FW matches. As for a good Clan Scouting deck, Stormcrow, or Nova are extremely good at what they do.

Scouting mode is actually medium mech brawling mode.

Wow so medium mech brawling is a fun mode. Haha I wish I did this along time ago. I did not realize the rewards for getting rep was so awesome. Looks like it takes along time but free mech bays and Mc is totally worth it!
Any pointers for getting rep? Or is there really no tips or tricks? Just gotta play alot. Lol

Fight for the winning side. So currently, fight for the clans. If ever another faction starts steamrolling, join them. There are little to no rewards for fighting for the losing faction.

Invasion matches are more rep and don't take too much longer unless you actally get Invasion as the play mode.
