Honestly, there's a reason I backed Mechwarrior Tactics online and not MWO. Cuz I never expecte any melee in a real time mech sim.

That said, HBS keeps getting better and better.

You should not be proud that you gave any of your money to MWT, I am not , I am still mad about that cash-grab disguised as a game in development.

Sure it is pretty cool.. But i really gotta laugh at some of these comments about how HBS has it, look what they are doing!

the differences between a grid based RTS, or TBS and a 3rd person shooter about about as close as checkers and a holo-suite.. So many mechanics are different it isn't even funny. Just the fact that hitboxes don't even need to exist in one and only exist in a number cruncher for example is only 1/10 the issues here.

You are talking a ground up rebuild... Not just adding animations on Fixed hexed..

sure would be neat.. and i am not against an entire engine/rebuild update, but i am not under any illusion, this WOULD take years to do..

A simple solution would be press R for a locked on melee punch.

What really gets me is the design behind melee. HBS wants close in encounters to be brutal and final, none of this two atlas chest hugging each other.

Ok, after a short hype cool down period, I've been reminded that they're still not allowing mechs to pick up improvised clubs. Which means we still can't beat people to death with our own blown off limbs. #ImprovisedLimbClubsOrIRiot

No, "we" dont need it. I certainly hated it back in TT, it was a big reason why my group almost always played clan vs clan and when we played spheroids, we did it without melee. I never felt it was balanced compared to the gunfight.

It might work in Bt (I still have my doubts though) but all you guys rambling for it beeing introduced in MWO: do you remember knockdowns?Melee would be ten times worse than that crapola.
I gotta admit, it looks good in these gifs.

I highly doubt any type of melee will make it into MWO. Now Mechwarrior 5: Mercs....That might be a real possibility...hopefully.

That game is a complete shitfest, and mele was among the worst thing made ever.

But why no one talk about a good giant robot game with nice mele ? Titan Fall ofc !
Just like battletech you don't use mele as primary way to deal damages, but it's pretty handy from time to time.

thats not even remotely close in comparison fo how a melee in a shooter based games can work vs in a TBS.

yes and i can guarantee you there will hardly be a proper implemention of it that a customer can use and control. not everything thats cool is feasable. thats why mechs can't climb and crouch in any mechwarrior title. that would require a future with a real neurohelmet that alows us such complex controls. but our current regular inputs won't make this happen properly.

it's like VR, VR is old tech but wasn't proeprly working thing back when invented, nowdays it's haing its true revival ebcasu tech allows it wo give a proper experience.

The one reason why I think melee is not a bad idea for MWO is for those cases when you run out of ammo and would like to do something other than nothing.
