Of course, it's easy to take this system for granted when you have the best connection.

Sure you can't fasten loading and searching times but at least the voting could be streamlined... maybe we could make a preselection, like favorites or some kind of personal priorities that auto-vote or so.
And the ready button can go completely. when evreryone is connected, there is no need to wait those extra 8 seconds.

Waiting Simulator.
Wait to log in.
Wait to find match
Wait at pre-match screen
Wait as you realize that you are outnumbered and out-positioned because 3 geniuses on your team brought Awesomes with quad lrm15(no artemis) and a tag. and that's it. and they are waaaaaaaaay in the back and of absolutely no use.
That's the thing. It is almost always a single individual that holds up 23 other players.
Nothing like that 70 seconds of awkward silence punctuated by the occasional "sup", "sup".
Lets say you play ten matches:
At worst waiting about 70 seconds a match - that comes out to about 12 minutes
Lets say you average 35 seconds of waiting - just under 6 minutes.
After 7 days you have accomplished 1 hour and 12 minutes of sitting in front of screen of nothing.
One month, it is 4 hours and 48 minutes
in a year it becomes, 57 hours and 36 minutes.
Most times it counts down to like 15 seconds before Jables Mcdweebleson connects. Note: if there is a pilot with the name Jables Mcdweebleson, I'm sorry for you.

As it stands, some people can't connect until after the drop. Reducing it further would just penalise them further.

If you're going to strawman, at least use credible numbers.
Never ever is there a critical mass of players ready at the 70 second mark. Nor will there ever be.

But that said, would you not like to see the connectivity further optimized?

I would not be super happy if the match started without me, and my teammates would be at a disadvantage if it did.

What I've observed is that 1 out of 23 people can't connect roughly 3 out 5 matches within 30 seconds (that comes out to about 1% of the people not connecting 60% of the time). Another way of saying this is that 99% of the people wait 100% of time for 1 person who may or may not connect.
This is confusing to me because I can't imagine anyone not being on broadband today (broadband is anything beyond 56K aka dialup). Now you can have latency issues (ping) but that is not the same as bandwidth and the millisecond ping issues aren't going to be noticeable when loading unless your ping is over 900ms in which case the game would be unplayable to you anyways. Whether on isdn, cable, or fiber our connections should result in nearly the same load times, the server is only sending a small amount of data to the client (your computer) when getting the match ready so your computer knows what assets to load for the match which is a local operation.
You would expect there to be many more people with long load times if there was something wrong so it is bewildering to me that such a small percentage of people take so long to load a game with such a small footprint.
I think something else is to blame, I think I'll keep a log of these pilots names for the next couple of days and see if a pattern will emerge based on their public pilot profiles.

I ran into huge problems of connecting into the match by using the steam client, I was able to connect into matches only roughly half of the time. Only fix was to use the client, but I had to use the repair tool for like 5 times after a new installation to fix all problems. After doing this I never ran into problems again.
If you encounter problems with connecting into games, run the repair tool. I have noticed that most of the time certain mech files were corrupted.
And yeah, being in the match with close to 90 sec left all the time is annoying. But best solution would be to actually fix the technical issues that there arent so much players with connectivity issues anymore. Especially in lower tiers there always are one or two people not able to connect into the game at all.

I personally have played 434.
The people that seem to take issue with this post:
Shuri Tuski - 134 matches
Prosperity Park - 59 matches
Appogee - 120 matches
El Bandito - 25 matches
I'm already starting to see a pattern here not sure what it means yet.

How is that straw manning? Is that proper grammar for that term, which gets thrown around on here about as much as wait...what was it oh ya HYPERBOLE.

I've played 13,400 matches of MWO. Unlike you I never stopped.
So I guess I get to have an informed opinion after all.

It means you have Attention Deficit Disorder.
Incidentally, the first 10 days of this month I couldn't connect to 75% of matches at all due to ISP problems.

Apoggee games played per season.
120 Season 6
250 Season 5
471 Season 4
199 Season 3
188 Season 2
54 Season 1
So prior to season 1 you played 12,118 matches? Is there someplace other than the stats boards I can look to verify the 13,400 it would help me out when I start to log the pilots not connecting when I start to look at there public profiles for a pattern.
With the all the emotion its almost like you're upset that I'm going to actually take the time to look for a pattern to this issue, is there something you would like to tell everyone?
