So contrary to the popular opinion, I have found faction play to be much more fun for several reasons.

1. The incorporation of Quick play maps which are not just a choke point zerg.

2. The Ease of finding matches, I have played more matches now than almost all of Phase 3

3. The much better chance of winning as a solo pug or a lance. I found myself dropping in more 4-8 mech drops, before we wouldn't even touch it without getting at least 10 together.

4. Running into more teams now that people are getting more organized. Teams that I did not even know existed prior to Phase 4. Some decent, alot not, but hey its still fun to see what people try out.

5. The ability to work with other units within clans that I only new from afar as well as mercs that only plan smoke jag clan side for instance.

6. I think it has helped me meet more members of the community as opposed to only ghost bears for example. Which ultimately leads to more invites to premade groups. ]

i have nothing against the new modes, hell i see 4.1 as the most positive change fp has seen, ever. it also breathes a lot of new life into those stale af qp modes. there are some vestigial artifacts from previous versions that need to be removed, like merc contracts dont make any sense anymore, and freelancer really doesnt make any sense (and only ever did for the first 3 days of phase 3). these either need to go away or be reworked. but that kind of stuff really isnt that important. in future revisions its probibly a good idea to look back on the fundamental flaws of fp and try to rectify the remaining problems, but its better than its ever been.

4.1- a step in the right direction...Still some problems but I've enjoyed it for the most part.

4.2 - WE CAN ONLY HOPE.

I grow tired of skirmish and domination in FW. It's usually the same fight over the middle of the map nonsense. Conquest though has been a whole lot of fun....except too many people don't realize that conquest in FW is rarely ever won on kills. Dropzones in conquest could stand to be relocated slightly off the map so they don't block pathways to caps...like on tourmaline and crimson. Those dropships will shred a light or medium in no time.

@W A R K H A N : I had thought the placement of the drops and the opportunity for dropship scouring of a few near capture points in Conquest was by design. I agree with you in thinking that the port of Conquest mode to FP works the best of the three you mention.

Domination I think can work, but the drop zones and access paths to the contested circle need to be refined in many of the maps. In some maps (certainly HPG, iffy Frozen City) I think the drop zone barriers are much more of a hindrance to the team they are meant to protect rather than a benefit. Maybe we could do without those barriers on HPG? Skirmish is skirmish, not much to be said there.

For my part, while I enjoy FP 4.1 in general, I am not having good luck with getting together in organized FP drops. Pug life is as awful as it ever was, and I have seen very few pug or even mixed group Clan drops in opposition. Most Clan opposition forces I have seen are 9+ people together from the same unit. Many are full 12's. At least, that has been my experience.

This.

Every poll i saw showed that people happy/conent with the 4.1 changes are 80+% of the polled population.

Redo the poll in 3-4 more weeks once the initial excitement has settled, I bet it changes.

Yeah, hardly a decent sample group.

unless you have better data then "i don't like it", you just gonna have to accept that as a best indication we have (other then population still being huge, not the ghost town phase 3 was)

Not denying there are more people on since 4.1 began. Where did I say that wasn't the case?

However you take a poll of less than 10% of the player base, which is also near the launch of something fresh and new, you're gonna get excited responses.

Ideally you then take one 3-4 months after the shiny wears off and the actual mode settles.

That is where I do believe the view of people will change. I too was excited at the start as was probably most (there was certainly a buzz around), now, the issues with 4.1 are starting to come out.

FWIW I've had 8 ghost drops or so in 2 days, which is inline with 3.0

In my country 3'400 people decide will the specific TV show live or die. While overall population is 140'000'000.
Get impressed a lil bit more.

That's why wee need that population screen back. We are all flying half blind here. BUT. I will say that's an overpopulation issue - we had long(er) wait times before we switched to IS as well. But if you look in the worlog at the time of writing this post, (8 am greenwich) there is a FP match ending every 5~10 minutes. And it's after prime time. During EU prime, the matches end every ~3 minutes. It's jsut there is so much more clan players, your queue is quite long.
