So with 4.1 upon us it would seem the old issue of pugs getting stomped by groups still exists. So let's rehash an old idea.

Monday: Planet attack vote. FW units with standing within their IS faction or clan vote for which planet to attack. Therefore Liao, Davion, Steiner, Kurita, Marik and FRR would each choose a planet. Likewise Wolf, Ghost Bear, Jade Falcon, and Smoke Jaguar would select which planets they attack. Notice this gives IS a 6 to 4 advantage.

Tuesday thru Friday: Quickplay only. Groups play against groups, Pugs play against pugs. Pugs would have different restrictions and progression from groups. Groups would collect group points for the week, individual pugs would collect individual points throughout the week.

Saturday: Points are tallied. The top 20 groups and top 48 pugs (formed into 4 groups) from each side (clan and IS, or mercs fighting on that side) face each other in a ladder match in Invasion mode only for each contested planet. Groups are randomly seeded. MM would try to maintain IS v Clan as long as possible. Winner of ladder match would take the planet, with the exception of pugs. If a pug group wins then planet does not change hands.

Sunday: Free for all. Same as current 4.1.

Just some ideas that have been kicked around by me and others for years.

This here requires too much work. What happens if those groups or pugs are not available on Saturday? What if only one side has a lot of attendees?

Good point. And having 24 groups would not be good for ladder matches. 16 (12 groups, 4 pug groups) would be a better number and allow for the planet to be decided in 4 rounds.It would also reduce the time commitment requirement.

The pug groups would be easy. Just take the top 48 pugs queued at the time the match starts. Wouldn't have to be the same groups or same 48 every time. The group part, well I hope the organized groups could get their members committed to 3-4 hours a week. Saturday morning 8am PST start would probably be the most manageable.

Imagining a best of 3 for each ladder match.

Pugs need to stay out of FP

that way they can really get a grasp on balance and all the other jazz

nah, better yet make units play units, and do something to keep them from all switching to whatever side has the advantage at the time. you ban the pugs and your wait times will also go up.

Played this past week and was impressed by the wait times. Not impressed with the stomps but this is why we need to give incentives to pugs and the hardcore to keep playing FW.

Without all the suckers playing FP the units would lose interest and the mode will die.
