[High Xoltage]

Anyone else getting a bug where the keyboard gets a stuck key? It has happened on multiple computers for me so I suspect it is not hardware.

I'm more pissed at the Steam overlay suddenly popping up mid-match because I accidentally hit the hotkey for it. Gonna change the hotkey.

Hmmm...I have noticed that sometimes I try to reverse but the mech seems to either move too slowly or not initially move at all. And it's definetly not any terran or rocks preventing reversing. I haven't had that one before.

I don't see it in for example Fallout 4 which I play a lot too. But, I my keyboard is getting worn out and well, a bit dirty, so it could also be actually a physically stuck key.

Yeah, my keyboard is getting pretty worn out too. Gotta replace it with another, soon.

This happens to me at least once in every match. It is not a physical keyboard issue, and it began occurring somewhere in January.

I recall facing this same bug some years ago, and then it was resolved automatically by some patch. This particular bug basically ruins the game, as the only way to recover from the "stuck key" is to alt + tab to desktop and back, and then by pressing the key again that is "stuck". It's not really handy when in the middle of a shootout.

It seems to occur only when reversing, and when pressing one or more keys at the same time.

Steps to reproduce (on wsad-keymap where shift is full stop and alt is zoom-toggle): Press turn, full stop and zoom at the same time.
--> The movement toggles that are pressed at the same time get stuck.

Cause of the issue: Keyboard locale changes in Windows, because of the alt + shift combination.

Solution to this problem is not to advice removing the alternative keyboard locales.

Those whose first advice is generally "Change your keyboard", "It's not a bug", "Never happened to me before, it's definitely your computer! olololo", should think twice before contributing with their enlightened opinions. And by this I'm referring to the in-game comments.

hi 2019 here and still getting this bug where my w gets stuck because alt is the default key for masc
I have literally no key left anywhere else to put masc on. (Yes this includes the 16 buttons on my mouse .. they're all taken)
Having to alt tab in and out of the game to fix this especially mid fight is starting to get a BID ANNOYING

It's a ridiculously old bug where if you press alt+shift (assuming you have 2 launguages on your keyboard) and a movement key it will get stuck like this. The only workaround is to alt+tab to your desktop and then back to MWO.
Also, joysticks have nothing to do with it. I've confirmed it myself.

ive been fighting that for so many years that basiclly i have it down to a science that i dont really notice..

that and the problem with the blue tooth where it drops out and then it has to be reconnected and resetlected one time only after first starting the game

ill start the game, turn the blue tooth on, it will beep and say connected to pc, mechwarrior will then double beep indicating your connected, once i get in game.. I que up call for mic check, they say yes.. a few seconds later.. DIssconnected.. then i have to reconnect the blue tooth and do the whole process over again, and it will stay good until i shut the engine down and start again, (people are like its only your computer) But it only happens with mechwarrior.. and its completely recreateable

99% of cases I know happens because player is activating windows language change by tapping some hotkey for it (5x ctrl or alt or etc) and for me it changes my keyboard layout from Finnish to English and any key that was pressed down during that change stays down unless I change language back.

So if you got additional languages installed in your windows, this is most likely the reason. Remove hotkeys for language swap and you should be ok.

Unless you got only 1 language then I got no clue how to help.

Sometimes is happens, but very rarely. In some other games too, i.e. it's most likely hardware fails, so I can say, that I don't have such problems.

Edit: Meh did not fixed the problem.
However I can reproduce it pretty good by holding w and pressing alt+shift.

just a few note. havent read all comments:

standard keyboards have a key rollover limit. you cannot activate more buttons at the same time than this limit.
language change is a thing, disable that
clean your keyboard
buy a proper keyboard like Corsair K-series

edit: windows has a feature for disabled people. when you press shift 5 time shift gets sticked. google "sticky keys" on how to disable that
