[Snazzy Dragon]

It's either a community name for a mech or something special I come up with on my own based on how it plays.

Examples:

I only have one Arctic Cheetah, so I nicknamed it the Cheater.

I have an Ice Fridge (you can guess which mech it is, right?)

SplatDog and SplatWolf

Scrubcrow and Skillcrow (Laser vom and streaks, respectively)

Dire Cow and a Diet Cow to celebrate their rescale

Mobile Home (Warhawk)

Cicada X5 "Butt Burglar"

Dragon 5N "Snazzy" (my first mech ever, with the original fit I settled on; not meta but not bad either )

Marauder 5M "Mr. Melter"

Marauder 3R "Phoenix Down"

Stalker 5M "Angry Grandpa" (slow, cranky, fat, but will whack you with his SRM crutches)

And of course

Kit Fox-Prime(I) "Sh*t Fox"

I usually name my mechs after their combat style, looks, and effectiveness. Only my best and favorite end up with names, decals, custom paint, and generic hero mech treatment.

I have 6 at the moment, here's the list and the stories

Atlas-S "Ymir"

In the glory days of brawling this mech was a favorite of mine that crushed all those before it. Due to its ancient status, giant, crushing nature, and old time king of assaults status I gave it the name Ymir after the frost giant king of Norse mythology.

Summoner "Thor"

After getting the shiny new PPC nips, this mech performed as it should. I was a walking engine of death capable of brawling, long range fire, and more. With the power of my guns striking with lightning as a hammer against the enemy I found this mech to fight as Thor, of Norse mythology, would. Of course, this mech's IS name is also Thor, so its a double reference.

Hellbringer "BloodThirster" (shortened to BludThrister because character limit)

I found my Hellbringer to be incredably vicious, often killing many enemies in each match and carrying games even if my team had died off before hand. I found that in this mech I could just fire and watch my enemies melt before me. I wished for the deaths of my enemies when I rode this mech and it was granted. I named this mech after the greater demon of Khorne from Warhammer 40k. Its colors match.

Arctic Cheetah "Nightmare"

I found myself to be a nightmare for my enemies in my cheetah. I would get behind enemy lines and come out of nowhere, often sneaking around like a ninja and killing and stragglers, anyone distracted. I'd pop up and kill anyone who tried to run from the team's death ball. I became the stuff of nightmares and would force the enemies to huddle together or die. It was lovely ripping up those poor LRM boats who'd hide a KM back from their team.

Centurion-AH "The Ham"

Early on I had asked on the forums about getting a Centurion. I looked through the variants and in the end what sold me was one person saying "Go ham or go home" when talking about the AH and its AC20. In its defining match I had partnered up with an Atlas to be my buddy. The map was forest colony. There was a huge brawl in the water in which my Atlas buddy had gone down, I survived and ended in a 1v1 against a cicada while nearly dead. After a long and hard fought battle I had survived with health under 30%

Executioner "Tartarus"

An old favorite of mine, this mech I used to dominate anything it came across and burn them alive with my 12 SPL. It ended up being brutally effective, able to take out entire medium lances at once, 1v1 any other assault, and take out light mechs with ease. Its colors and its matches on Terra Therma reminded me of Tartarus from Greek mythology, and thus it got its name.

Ah ok. Glad about that. Was not sure if there had been some change made I wasn't aware of, like re-named Hero mech variant custom names actually being visible to the general public.

In a way it'd be cool, but I can see it being Oh So Abused.

I've named for performnace, paintjob, and lore reasons. Most of my omnimechs, especially Wave 1, are named for their Inner Sphere code names, for example, all of my Summoners are named Thor. Performance wise, one of my Black Knights is named Cursed Knight because I had such a hard time finding a working load out that wasn't the same as my other Knights; my splat dog is named Rib Knife because of it's shocking effectiveness as a backstabber. Paint wise, I've a 3 tone blue Warhawk named Blueberry, and one of my Huntsman is named Beebop, after the TMNT villain, because with the default paint pattern I could give it a red vest and purple Mohawk.

Always a girls name followed by MXY where X is a number that fits the mech (somewhat based on when I bought it) and all variants of share the same one, while Y is a unquie identifier, mostly 1-3 letters.

Examples:

Aurora M1 (my first Catapult C1)
Aurora M1B (Catapult K2)
Aurora M1D (Catapult Jester)

Jade M4-STD (Stalker, thin it's the 3F)
Jade M4-ADV (Stalker, Missery)

Ripley M8-I (Maruader IIC)
Ripley M8-II (Maruder IIC-A)

...and so on

Because it's fast and packs a punch, although its glory days were over once the power creep set in.

SDR-5V "Skitter"
Because it's a fast little ******.

WLF-1 "Reaver"
Because Firefly.

SHC-Prime "Shade"
Because shade and shadow are pretty much the same thing.

SHD-2H(P) "Airwatch"
Because it has 2 AC/5s which reminds me of the twin barrel AA guns.

SCR-Prime "Ryoken"
I'll let you figure this one out.

EBJ-Prime "Longshot"
Because it has a Gauss Rifle.

MDD-Prime "Vulture"
Pretty obvious if you ask me.

TDR-5S(P) "Flash"
Because you know, thunder and flash.

Because I painted it black.

I name mine according to weapon load out. Eg 2LPL4ERML or 12ERSL for ease of picking them during group play. The only one I have a real custom name on is my pahket who's called 'Grinch and painted green
