cos im seeing a metric ton of who i THINK are new players who seem to have no idea what they're doing.

like, i just had a guy who didn't know where "upper city" was on river city. like, there is literally only one raised city area in that map.

another didn't know where the minimap was on his screen (how that's possible is beyond me) let alone know how to read his minimap.

these are not guys that should be dropping against teams like 228. yet they are. minimap man was dropping in a TRIAL JENNER IIC. against 228.

i mean, when it's qp, they're gonna derp. which is fine. cos at least qp has a semi-functioning mm system. in fp, it's just four times the derp. against organised groups, it gets extremely silly.

Correct, there is no match maker in faction play. It's meant to be end game basically. If I recall correctly, you get a popup when you first click on the FP tab stating that it's meant for more advanced players. Is that still there I wonder?

man. that's... an oversight, to put it mildly.

Nah it's intentional. The whole idea of FP is to have units fighting one another over territory, and if there is a MM in the way then you might not end up getting what you wanted design wise.

As soon as PGI decided that players can take trial mechs to CW, the whole thing was ****** up. It is PGI's own darn fault for mechbay gating anyway. Where else can newbies go for mechbays, without spending money?

At least the "buy 3 to elite 1" business model is being phased out, thank Kerensky. Should not have been there in the first place.

guys in trial mechs and are still in tier 4-5 have zero chance against groups like 228.

i don't see why there's no matchmaker though. asking the player to self-police will alway falls flat on its face. tried and tested.

i don't find it fun when i'm grouped with these players, i don't find it fun when i'm playing against them, and i think they don't find it fun either when they get stomped every game.

that being said, i don't want to take fw away from these guys. a matchmaker system would make it such that they CAN have fun in fw and CAN contribute to their factions.

MM implementation in CW will mean far longer wait time for everyone, and people were sick of it during the last 2 years. I'll be happy if MM results in increased CW participation, but nothing is certain at this point. Especially since many Invasion maps flat out suck.

yeah im not sure how it will balance out.

either wait times will become a lot longer, or new players drop in, get farmed repeatedly and stop playing it.

looks like it's a screwed if you do, screwed if you don't kinda deal.

in CW there is no;

- split between pugs and groops.
- skill based (ore anny other) mach maker.
- ballance in tech and average skill level between the 2 opposing sides.

the above mentioned has resulted in, competitive players with a higher average skill have formed orgenised groops and picked the side whit the tech advantage...

It's never had a Match maker, was never intended to have a match maker.

There are warnings about it being built for organised teams, that solo pug's won't have a good time if you expect it to be like Q.P.

I'm hardly P.G.I's greatest fan right now

How's that for political correctness.

But from the word go they have given the whole of the community plenty of warnings about Faction Warfare, if people ever bother to read them.

In F.W you take your chances, and you are likely to get farmed as a solo PUG

There is no match maker in FW, group queue, or quick play.

Tired of seeing these posts.

Wouldn't matter if there was...the PSR system is not in any way actually related to skill... its just a measurement of average match score grinding.

there IS mm in qp. does it work well? no. it's releasing valves faster than pgi releases mech packs, but still.

yeah. the psr system is borked, but the only one we have. and right now, after dipping my toes into faction warfare, it sits ill with me that t5s are being thrown to the wolves. they don't have a snowball's chance in hell. get a bunch of average t1-2s against the average group and at least there's some fight to be had, especially since they'll probably know where to go, what to do, how to communicate etc.
