What MWO pilots wanted. Get stripped of you hard work, and now pilots are going bye bye. MWO is not made for stats and tiers. Just played a round, apposing team had a disco. Ended up being a stomp 12-2. Think that is fair for stats, moving through tiers in 2-3 minute rounds? Nope.

I feel like you don't understand what tiers are for?

The tier is there to rate your skill as a pilot for the purposes of better matchmaking, it's not a trophy. If you are having trouble getting out of tier 3, its because you probably belong in tier 3.

Good. If you're gunna absolutely dunked on in that amount of time you probably shouldn't be playing against or with the people you lost with. That simple.

We are aware pilots do not move tiers in minutes. But those with 1000 match scores was able to make it in one half day. But it isn't fair for those who have bad rounds when it isn't there fault, specially with disconnects that do return to late. When the enemy team with only two kills, and we stomped em, because of unfair team. Why new players are saying. "Nope, not for me." The embarrassment, the humiliation all because of the results at the end of round. Think how they feel. In the end of it all, the only pilots that will be playing MWO is those who make 700 -1000 match score. Since that number is the stats of being the best. And it isn't.

Hey in my opinion, they should have just dropped everybody in the tier they were in and let the dust settle...whiners be damned.

Stats in MWO the way it is made, Make whiners. Beginning of round, pilots say "HF!" (everyone agrees), but at end of a 3 minute round, pilots are fuming on their mics and some are laughing at others results. And it isn't their fault. All because of Numbers, tiers.

Obviously there is always a "single match" that moves you the last point to shift up or down in tiers.

The movement range in PSR from a single match is pretty wide with the new system compared to the old system. So yes, you can undo several minimal raises in a single fumble.

Of course it works like that when you are right at the edge of two tiers. Tier is based on your exact PSR rating. But if you are gradually going up as you clearly are, you will eventually be completely out of the lower tier.

Your gains and losses are weighted by your relative match score to the match you just played. If you have a match score of 0 and the highest match score was 1,000, then you're probably going to lose the most PSR. And visa versa. So yes, the system is working as intended. You go up, you go down. A far cry from the old "you always go up or stay equal" system of just a couple months ago.

Remember, Tier 5-1 range is from 0-5000. With the zero-sum/drop, the PSR values can range from approx 24 to -24 (higher/lower dependent on Matchscore differences). So you may have been at xx95, earned 6 PSR points on a win and moving upto the next tier at xx01, then on the next loss hit with a -15pts, dropping you back into the previous tier to xx86.

And to put some military/BT terms to the tiers (as if this is Solaris or a sporting event)

1 - Elite
2 - Veteran
3 - Regular
4 - Green
5 - Basics

And attaching a pic from Paul's thread, but I do not believe they are using Jay-Z 2C version. I have had way too many games where I have received the break even on loses. I dont remember getting that on a win though.

Funny part is it doesn't matter. T2s are in the same matches as T3. There's no difference in going down a tier, you end up playing with the same people anyway. Working as intended.

Sadly true, because PGI gifted everyone a rating half way up tier 3, even players with 0 matches under their belts wind in my games. Poor schmucks.

Haven't made it to T1 yet, but I'll assume there's no change once I do.
