Because it's hinted by Russ himself.

Unfortunately it is probably the fire moth because all the hints and teases at it. Either they fixed the max speed HSR problem or they're releasing it without MASC if it indeed is the fire moth, and I really don't care to have a mist lynx with even easier to shoot arms and less firepower. Personally, I'm not interested.

If it is the Piranha, on the other hand...

I'm going to bet that they release Firemoth and Piranha at the same time. Double pack. $30 for the basic variants.

MWO has far fewer light mechs than any other class and I estimate that they will release 2 clan + 2 inner sphere mechs the next months. I doubt they will follow the standard model, because I don't think people are going to pay the same amount of money for light mechs as for assault mechs. And Russ has hinted that they may move away from the current mech pack model at some point. This seems like a good time to do so.

Yes please! - Not convinced this will be the case this time around but totally keen!

As for guessing.... firemoth (though would prefer piranha, if it doesn't get mg's nerfed)

Edit: also if it's a firemoth can we have a periscope attachment/module so we can peek over stuff at arms height too

It's either the Fire Moth (good and fun), the Pirahna (machinegun nerf incorporated), the Cougar (an even ******** light, also known as the Adder 2.0) or the Fire Falcon ("replacement for the Mist Lynx")

Personally hoping for the Fire Moth.

Locust IIC.

Because I haven't seen any hints. Just mentions. And if there are hints, who's to say its not some light misdirection.

You are failing to take into account it will be scaled at the 20 ton Locust knee nibbler size. And there is a variant with 5 Energy hardpoints and a possibility for ECM on hero.

Imagine a faster locust with clan small pulse lasers....ouch.

I can see it being the Firemoth because the last mech was Inner Sphere, but I cant figure out why some of the famous Inner Sphere lights are not out yet.

Where is the King Crab hero also?

I'm probably cheating, but it's likely to be one of these
Wasn't the Flea teased like a year or two ago? Also Firefly or Owens for that nostalgia factor from MW3 <3

Wasn't it supposed to be an IS mech? Or just a Light? I admit I might be crossing streams here in regards to announcements.

Geez. Another Clan Mech with super high-mounted hardpoints...?

I do agree though that Clans should get a 20-tonner.

My bets are on the Locust IIC. I'd highly prefer the Firemoth or Piranha, but if the Firemoth got added without its proper speed, I'd riot.

Its been said lights with top speeds over 170 kph, like the flea, would be too fast & could break the game.

For my money

Clan: Comando IIc, Locust IIc, Incubus or Pirahna.

IS: Wasp/Stinger pack or Valkrie with a decent engine cap. Mostly nostalgia but I do well with odd ball mechs.

Also I know my skill. I do well on light mechs up to 160kph. After this my motor skills diminish fast. One of the things that have helped me advance is playing mechs that work for me. Top tier 1 or twitch players may do great past that point, idk.

Why would anyone want a 20 ton light mech that's essentially an anemic locust?

An omni mech would have a pretty sized XL and low amount of slots leaving very little room for weapons choices even with clans weight/size savings and a IS 20 tonner would have little to no room for 2-3x ML's.

So that leaves 20 ton Clan battlemech's as they can change out engines with the bonus of clan tech.

If they release the Piranha, expect an MG nerf the following month, as with the current stats it can kill any medium in 5 seconds flat from the rear.

While this isn't an issue from most of the population, in the hands of a semi competent player, this will become one of the best mech if not the most powerful light in the game

Firemoth, Pirahna, or a new PGI-made light mech.
