Outside of this awful necrobump...

I know people really want this non-fighting but directing commander, but the problem already is that most people don't drop command or they drop command poorly.
It's not something you can actually pull of consistently in the solo queue... whereas you can get some/occasional level of coordination in the group queue.
The 13th slot with some guy specing is akin to complaining about "backseat driver" whines when people don't actually listen to the info... or tries to actually direct people unnecessarily while dead.

Well, than should PGI drop that stupid 12 vs 12 concept and move on to full 24 player deathmatch... no need for coordination in such a game mode.

And what about Lance commander? Who the hell wants to be a Lance commander? They need to add some more skills and features beyond the current place holder Command wheel, UAVs and airstrikes.

A Lance is a command unit from the boardgame and makes sense insofar as they are specialized mechs bunched together for a specific task. There are several types of Lances: Command Lance, Pursuit Lance, Support Lance, Recon Lance, Striker Lance and so on. It would be great if that would play any role in the mechwarrior game, but I guess with the frantic, fast, high damage output game we have with the assymetrical strengths between Clans and IS the borders blur,

Battlefield has Squads and Squad leaders who use the Comrose and Voip to coordinate their Squad.
A Lance in MWO is nothing else than Battlefields Squads, only with PGI Style (worse) comroses.
Oh, and MWO puts you each round with 3 random guys in a lance instead to keep the players together between the games.
