They are fun but won't replace my Timberwolves. The Night Gyr is too slow (65 kph) and maneuvers like an assault mech instead of a clan heavy. There are some really nice load outs though. You have to play it like an assault mech with less armor and then you can do well.

The fact that it doesn't face environmental heat is a cool idea, but not very valuable. There are only a few "hot" maps in the game and no one likes to play them, so the Night Gyr advantage rarely comes into play.

Overall, a solid mech with some interesting features. It makes a nice niche mech for FP drop decks also.

65 kph when not elited, when elited it hits a touch under 70 and is fine.

Hrm, starting to regret going wild on module unlocks and purchases, knowing they will be refunded when the new skill tree takes effect. Now I have a lot to grind if I want to fill my empty mech bays with Night Gyrs lol :D

Get the D because it's the only one with a CT hard point. Other than that, whatever you feel like. The Prime, B and C work well with their stock pods if you don't feel like spending too much on extras.

The D it is. Thank you.

I know it's me and not the mech but the Gyr has been such a disappointment. I die instantly on it and when I don't, I never do more than 300 dmg. I tried lurm boat; ac2 boat; ac5+Lrg Pulse brawler: gauss+large laser sniper: not one of those builds worked. I guess it's too slow and sluggish and I'm used to super agile clan heavies.

Or get only the D because you won't need 3 variants anymore shortly?

Ones that worked for me were all pretty standard builds;
2x UAC10 + 2x LPL
2x Gauss + 3x ML
Gauss + 2x PPC + 3x ML
3x UAC2 + 2x LL

The most fun I had was with this horrid abomination;
UAC20 + 2x LPL + 2x ASRM6
Hot as Heck but melts things up close

Thx for the suggestions, I will try some of those. I had little success in brawling but I didn't use an ultra 20 yet, you can't go wrong with that.

Further, if you ever do stock mode, the Prime and Bravo are beastly. It feels like cheating, even compared to other Clan mechs.

It should be, it is supposed to be one of the most advanced Clan Mechs in the timeline.

Not what I meant, I agreed with the first quoter who suggested it for a unique CT hardpoint, while other omnipods (except the hero) are available.
While you won't need 3 variants to master it sometime in the future, there's still some water to run in this river before that happens :)

same, been trying to save for the Night Gyr, but lost it when the EBJ's went on sale, and haven't been on much to regain the C-bill spent on EBJ's
well, guess it's time to get what I can now.

Yep, sold lots of stray lasers and PPCs to fund buying the EBJs. Now I'm only 39 million c-bills short for buying a set of 3 Night Gyrs, although really Kodiaks are on my to-do list next.

I mastered the NTGs. I found them to be "ok". They are definitely on the sluggish side, feeling more like an assault. By far my favorite is the Jade Kite. That's probably the only one I'll continue to play.

I find lbx10's and and pulse laz is brutal in a 2/2 config or 3 lbx10 is pretty awesome with a module.

I generally consider brawling with NGyr to be non-optimal. Its slower agility, high mounts, as well as buttloads of free tonnage means the NGyr is best used as a fire-support mech, just behind the front line. Just follow that Atlas, or Kodiak, and do great damage while the enemy is focused on taking down the assaults.
