Okay so I've been told that the Skill system will be getting a major overhaul in February. Even though I'm new at the game I wanted to try getting at least one Elite with the old system, just in case I could learn anything from it.

I'm not bothering with getting him to Master level, for that I'll wait for the new system. Now my understanding is we'll be reimbursed for the points that we've spent on the old system, so that leaves me with a question. Assuming I want to just sell the other two Mech that I used to get my "main" one to Elite, I take it that I should wait until the new update starts up before I sell them? What I'd like to know is, is there a reason for me to wait for the update before stripping the two Mechs or does it not really matter? I take it that after the update I'm going to want to strip them (if not sooner) and then sell them, I was thinking about stripping them now because I'm worried that I may forget to strip them before I sell them hehe. I'm very forgetful.

If there's anything else I should do to prepare for the new update, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

It would be wiser to wait to sell them till we know all the details. A variant you sell now may be worth having later.

You could strip them now if you don't use them though.

The only thing to do is spend all the mech xp that you can to get it back as legacy gxp.

as far as we know all XP invested in Mech or Pilot skills, as well as Cbills invested in non consumable modules will be refunded, the XP is to be refunded as "legacy GXP" which means you should be able to spend that on any Mech owned before the skill reset, we do not know if that will just be added to the current GXP pool or if it will be a seporate pool.

we still have not had much more than a general outline of what the new skill tree will involve however I should imagine there will be a command chair post, vlog or announcement before the new skill tree is released

when you sell a Mech it asks you if you want to sell the equipment as well, if you want to sell removable equipment with the Mech you have to tick the box, so do not be too worried about forgetting to strip the Mech.
