I was shocked to see no general WHM build threads. So I wanted to start off with one of my favorites recently. And feel free to share your own creations!

WHM 6R - 6 Small, 2 LB10-X, 1 SRM 4

2 tons of ammo (50 shots) is a bit much. Some changes I could think of:
  • Drop 1 ton ammo, add a heat sink
  • Drop SRMs, 2 tons ammo and 6 small lasers, run 48 leg armor and 8 head armor for 6 small pulse lasers and a heat sink. (this is what I would do)
  • Regardless, move LT ammo to head and CT ammo to feet.
I think its a decent build. My 6R runs 2 AC10s and 6 MLs.

I run a similar build without SRMs and a STD Engine to better zombie.

Just purchased my second mech recently, a 6R and am aiming for a heavy alpha build. Working towards 2 PPC and 2 LBX10 all in the ST's for better mount height for hill popping. To get the second LBX in there going to have to put in an XL and am curious on other's experience with it in the WHR? I know some mechs it is best to stick with standard engines due to massive ST's, but I tend to usually get damage spread pretty evenly and usually go down from the CT so thinking it's a safe bet in this mech.
Thoughts?

Personally, I like my superstock 6D - STD300, 2xPPC, 6xML. The 6R I usually run with 2xPPC, 1xLBX , SRM-4 and some medium lasers

I've tried it before and feel like it's a sitting duck even with an XL.

Saw a twin Gauss+Quad ML build the other day, think he lost an ST and survived. How effective would that build be, anyone have any experience? Was a 6R IIRC.

If he had a STD engine it will be incredibly slow. WHM-6R

Dual guass and laser backup is always potent.

Anything with Twin Gauss is going to be slow, it's allot of gun.

One of my most played mechs is a Black Widow with XL-engine and dual LBX. I wouldn't say that the XL on a warhammer is an automatic death sentence. To be honest, it feels that I've been destroyed mostly due CT on that BW.

I swapped out the twin LBX for the UAC5s because it was a weapon system I have not tried yet and wanted to experiment with. Have to say once I got used to the UACs it is a superior build. The problem with the LBX is that its "optimum" range is no where near true optimum. Anything over 300 meters and you are just sandblasting all across the mech, no focal damage, and even then at that range you're still hitting multiple sections. I think it's greatest advantage is when you have to engage lights, the spread really helps, especially with someone new still working on getting his aim down.

That being said though, for me, the 2 PPC 2 UAC5 build is my new favorite setup on the 6R, thanks for the tip. Set a new personal damage record yesterday in it at 757. While not record breaking my any means, I am pretty happy with that as a noob. Was beginning to wonder if games like that were possible with direct fire damage without just splashing everybody with LRMs all game, now I know, thanks :).
