Hi. I've been reading and watching videos and all that jazz about CW which is the next step from pugs.
Now I know I'm still a newb at this game and I should not venture into the CW space yet, but I can't help but think that just by playing pubs I won't make nearly enough credits as in CW with all it's rewards (mech bays included).
My question is: should I choose Loyalist (I want to go IS side) or Merc?
Also there is the issue that I like to play solo and not be bound to specific team mates and scheduled hours for playing in units.
So for a more solo oriented CW which would get me credits and mech bays faster?
I'm also did not understand if or how solo Merc works, actually...

Credit's should be the same either way, it's how you run the loyalty points that'll net you the mechbays. Fastest way to mechbay up with the least amount of time investment in CW is to become a merc, but that'll only net you the first bay, or a second if you keep at it.
Alternatively, you could become a loyalist, but that'll mean an initial ten matches afore you start making points, which does slow the mechbay tour a bit. Not to mention the dowtime between getting your desired mechbay, leaving faction and being able to hop to the next.
I'd say start a merc unit, grab that first mechbay, and then decide if it's worth the ten match hit to go loyalist. Maybe you can do em all scouting?
Now, all that said, people can, and have successfully pugged solo before. The question you must ask yourself is... can you work with the team for a match? Sure, you can flank alone or harass if you know what your doing. Sometimes a lone flanker picking at a murder ball can distract enough mechs to help the team, but if you go solo, you gotta know how to survive, when to peel off or regroup. Most often a mech going solo in CW merely dies easily, or misses the big fight.
I'm all for new blood in CW, but you are one of but twelve people on your team. You don't need to schedule hours, and some units are real casual, but when you drop inna Community Warfare map, your picking a game mode people choose because they want teamwork, and need to out coordinate the enemy to win most matches. Many matches'll need all twelve to win.
My rule is, they get my first mech. You spend your first mech doing what you can to help the team, and if they squander it on poor tactical decisions, or by not backing you up after asking you to push in or whatever, then go it alone. If you just drop in and run off, you are effectively handicapping your team a person. It's rude to do if they're trying to work together for a win. If they're all over the place an not working together, then yeah, do whatever, have a ball.
But please, think of your teammates. Give em that first mech.

Thanks for the info.
When I said I like to solo, I meant more that I don't want to do CW at the highest level, but I do try to play with and for the team even in random pug matches.
I try to follow orders that I see in chat if they make sense.
What I don't want to do it to be forced to use TS and join a group that demands scheduled play and that sort of things.
Anyway, about going Merc 1st to get the 1st mech bay, it makes sense... I just have another newbish question: do I get the mech bay the same way as being loyal to a faction, as in by getting rep or how?

Well, there's dropping solo, and there's 'going solo'. Wasn't sure which you meant, figured better to err on the side of caution.
So, you make your unit, you take your contract, and every match you'll get loyalty points. Same as cbills it'll be based offa performance, just, you'll get alot less. There's gonna be a point were mercing it upto the next rank, (Mayhaps after rank three) where it'll be faster to go loyalist, an get the second rank mechbay and then drop that faction to move onto the next.

Don't go anywhere near CW. You don't need more bays until you have your first four occupied and c-bill grinding is far higher per unit of time in QP.
You are not going to enjoy getting brutalized by premades. You absolutely need the best equipment or you are going to get wrecked.

I would say go loyalist for each faction and get at least 2 mech bays per faction, after getting one or two mech bays as a Merc.
The only thing is can you handle CW with the trial mechs? If you can ok, but it is a lot easyier with your own.
Going solo can be a bit hard in CW, I have seen just a group of two dominate a match. Then again I have been on a team of PUGs or small groups, just wrecking 12 man teams. Myself I like to play CW during higher population times due to more variety of player skill level that is there.
Almost forgot, welcome and have fun.

Well you guys were right, I tried CW 3 times today and the 1st try was Recon/Scout (forgot the naming) and interestingly enough I won with a trial mech and was pretty fun too, but then the next 2 invasions I was blown to smithereens both times... Whole teams decimated by the enemy like they were playing whack a mole with us.
One question though, since I made a solo Merc unit do I need to win to get the bonuses for the mission I took or they count for losses too? Also am I stuck 1 week with that contract?
As for making credits, yeah QP pugs net me double or more than getting wrecked in CW.

Need to win for the bonuses.
And you can 'get out' of the contract, but it costs. The idea is so that you don't wildly jump from team to team to collect benefits from the highest bidder every time it changes.
