Ya know I was thinking, this chassis could go for Hero treatment. Already has a unique cool look, would look neat with it's own paintjob, now that the texture artists have actually gotten better at their jobs (still haven't forgiven you for the craptastic Scorch paint tho).
I say a little PGI magic is in order, bufftastic and inflatomatic.

Until you get up close and lose your gun arm then you just became useless. Pity I don't have the pc hardware or we could do some fun duels or even mirror builds and see how they fare at range vs up close. It would make for interesting videos on youtube.

Maybe join up with the OP with this idea and record it for me? It would teach the op how to use the mech better and solve that riddle of how panthers fair at ranges with long vs short or long vs long. Private lobby and 1vs 1 should work unless you have a unit for the op to drop with. No way i could do it using my current hardware.

Well, a duel is a terrible test, because a ranged build will lose in that situation, but in terms of affecting matches, it's far more capable. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the heck out of MPL and SRM PNTs (heck, I leveled my 10P with nothing but 2 SRM4s and my nerves) before they became huge, but they were never as effective as a ranged poker in skilled hands.

Only if they do something chassis wide first. Otherwise any "bufftastic" version is going to be prima facia "OP" relative to the rest, and thus invite accusations (well founded accusations) of P2W. But yeah, a hero Panther would be welcome when and if they fix the 35 ton (humanoid) mechs.

You have no idea! Check out the HUGINN Super Bad. It gets dream team of missile quirks of missiles any other lrm mech like the Catapults wish they had:

missile range=20%
missile cool down=20%
missile heat generation=-15%
missile velocity=10%

Unless smurfy is wrong or outdated. It can lrm 50m farther than the stalker. It fact is probably has the longest lrm range in the game provided you have a dedicated spotter.

Let's be honest at this point in the MWO lifespan Bud, aren't we well and past P2W implementation to ensure income. ala Clan heroes paywall. 25 dollars for a single chassis. But ya I get what you're saying.

In other news, I finally picked up the Vindi and got the 1AA last night. Is there something up with hitboxes or the cockpit, because I literally got my brainpan blown out my a Goose KDK in the opening minutes of my first match. Rarely get headshotted, and was all the more shocked at how rapidly I got put down. I am pretty comfortable with the nuances of both sides, so it wasn't because I'm mostly clan. After that I went back to the comfort of my EBJ. I was trying to make an IS ppc snipe other than my PHX.

You're probably right. Still, it would be nice to have the other panthers, not to mention the other 35 ton mechs to be adjusted in some way to account for their inherent nerfing via rescale. Until that happens, any addition made to the relevant chassis via a hero is NOT (edit) gonna get bought unless it really is clearly OP.

I'm leveling Panthers right now and I am in hell. None of them are all that good, but the -10P makes me want to curl up in a corner until the hurting stops. I know I make it worse by running two mgs and SRM8, but what else can you do with it? The worst part is I didn't even mean to buy the thing. I thought it was the -10K and bought it by accident, and now I'm both space poor and out of bays, and it's not like I was using that 300xl on anything else...

It's bad. I hate it. I want it to end.

...I can't live without it.

Help me.

I mastered it with mix of ac10 or lbx and 3-4 tons ammo. Don't recall what engine i run...xl240 maybe (Im on my phone and can't check atm) and 1-2 JJ. Anyway, side poke and flank and it was fine. I see some folks have luck with 2ac2s but ammo is so limited I never felt that it was worth running. Frankly most good players I know who bothered with it ran something similar to what you have.

I run my Panthers like a cross between Commandos and Spiders. Their hitboxes aren't good enough to trade fire with other mechs, especially with the low engine cap, so you're better playing hit and run with something like a PPC and SRM.

Same here, trying to basic all 3 then I will sell unless them all. I wanted to keep the 10P with dual AMS and full JJ but I cannot find any interesting build. Yet I have a XL245 and LPL so I can give LRM protection and help a little but that's about it.

I would tend to agree. Of my 130 + mechs the Panthers are one of only two chassis I never even bothered to get the all the basic xp upgrades for.

Its the K with 2AMS not the P.
If I may, this is how I run mine:

10K with endo and ferro, XL250, 10DHS, 2JJ, 1ERPPC and 2SRM4s 2 tons ammo, 232 armor. If you are really gung ho about the 2AMS drop the ERPPC and replace with 2MPL, 2AMS and a ton or 2 of AMS ammo (2 if running overload, if not do 1 and take an extra ton of SRM ammo).

8Z is XL225, 3LL or 3ERLL, 11DHS, 1JJ.

9R is XL235, 2PPC, 11DHS 2JJ

10P is XL240, LBX10 and 3 tons ammo, 11DHS, 1JJ.

I know the environment is different now, but back before rescale they were all great...by great I mean fun. Now, I confess I have only run the 10P and you really have to be careful.

You know, the Trebuchet isn't the worst mech in the game stat wise. It's got quirks. It's got hard points. It can do stuff.

It's just got such a reputation for being garbage that it becomes garbage - Everyone, everyone knows it's as tough as a Dixie cup, and just marches right over it and grinds it to dust, unlike the other medium Inner Sphere mechs, which most mechs could steam roll just as well but people don't know it or believe it.

It's not one of the worst mechs in the game because its bad - It's one of the worst mechs in the game because it is, almost without question, the least feared chassis.

MLX waves.

Anyone who hasn't learned to fear the TBT-5J by now deserves whatever they get.

I found the cataphract terribad. But it was the very first mech I'd ever purchased in this game. But for me it was still very bad.

Ctx-4X with an XL in my FW drop deck as my first mech. So much dakka, much short lived. Frustrating as hell but can be fun at times.

At least the IS marauders are still quite strong despite all the targeted nerfs, from structure and offensive quirk removal to the rescale that made them a bit, uhm.. fatter.
