I thought i would drop this in here, just for fun to see how many people will laugh and cry and maybe see who would consider it worth using..

i know it's NOT meta, and it's definitely not what other people do, but i found it quite fun, and it's a bit lore friendly for me anyways:

except dhs and endo didn't exist in 3015 :<

Maybe its a 3050 retrofit. You just need to make up your mind ;-)

Neither did the UAC-5, neither did Artemis or BAP or CASE
Pretty much everything on the mech didn't exist in 3025 setting.

i dont think were getting a mech lab in mw5. i think russ was saying its going to emphasize stock builds primarily.

Most things work in a single player game. I remember outfitting all 8 of my two lance worth of mechs in MW4: Mercenaries, with nothing but LBX10s and LBX20s. BOOM, BOOM, BABY!

Darn, that'd be a good reason for me not to buy mw5 even after all the long wait and hype. I hate having to run stock builds, it gets so stale too only having a few options and being unable to swap stuff out. What would even be the point of being a merc and taking in salvage and having an engineering crew if you can't put that salvaged AC20 onto your Raven or whatever.

is it a decent lore build in the sense that it would be all "experimental" as in how davion had their secret programs, same with all the other houses, i mean, they all had this equipment, it just wasnt readily available to all mechwarriors, and they still had facilities somewhat producing it, the core techs being picked up was tech that helped reproduce it in standardasized blah blah blah...

but is the build solid?

I will be _so_ very happy if this is true. The one problem I had with MW2: Mercs was the gunbag nature the ability to more or less freely customize gave the mechs.

wow that would immediately make the game pure crap. I eman the entire cool stuff about mechwarrior games was salvaging and building your own mechloadout.

I think you mean Mechwarrior 2, where you played as the Clans.

In Mercenaries, if you chose Merc Commander, instead of just plain Mercenary, you had to pay for any customizing you did to your mechs, so if you were running a full lance and you weren't careful you could very easily run out of C-Bills with which to repair and rearm.

Granted going all energy weapons would save you ammo rearm costs, but you could still run out of money to repair your armor, structure and weapons if you lost any. You would also need to actually have the spare weapons with which to replace any losses.

Yeah, unfortunately stuff like this doesn't make much sense in MWO. Hopefully in MW5:M we'll get more of a combined-arms environment, which wouldmake stuff like your single MG and SSRM2 much more useful against infantry and light vehicles.

Very occasionally, and against my better judgement, I play MWO in full-mixed Shadow Hawks (keeping the AC, ML, LRM, SRM concept). The best build I've managed to come up with is this SHD-2D with AC10 + 3xML + 2xLRM5 + SRM2. In essence that's a 29-point direct-fire alpha with some LRM's for backup. It's not downright horrible in pug queue, and micro-managing all those weapon groups is a fun excercise.

In strictly 3025-era TT setting, my favourite field mod for the basic Shadow Hawk is just removing one SHS and replacing the SRM2 with an SRM4. The stock Shadow Hawk is one of those weird 'mechs that manages to be oversinked with single heatsinks, and the SRM4 helps in close quarters.

I suppose you could also replace the LRM5 with more SRM's, but then you've just created a Wolverine. Posted Image

Until it's been at retail for two weeks I don't give a dam about mw5. Mw5 and Duke Nukem could have been room mates in development hell and look how good and awesome Duke was. DNF made the original three side scrolling duke nukem games look and play great before D3D.

If you want to talk about TTK, the TTK for mechs in that game is far lower than MWO. You can one-shot heavy mechs in that game.

Honestly I really question that decision... I mean no customization AT ALL? That just seems so... not MechWarrior.

No Streaks, no Endo, no Ferro no DHS, no case, no ultra auto cannons, no pulse lasers, no extended range energy weapons, no AMS no C3 targeting systems in Regular units or merc's

In the time line of 3025 all these things are experimental rediscovered or being rediscovered lostech.

So I'm rather afraid your build is invalid, by quite away. The reason that ac5 fired and sounded like an ultra is because P.G.I are using the features of HBS's ac5 from their BattleTech game.

Well, to be fair, the game will start in 3015 and go until just before the Clan invasion, so that tech will be available endgame.
