I use the standalone launcher, not the steam one. Since the patch, my Norton Antivirus hates the following:
Category: Data Protector
Date & Time,Risk,Activity,Status,Recommended Action,Status,Program Path,Program Name,Date & Time,Action Observed,Target
8/20/2024 5:12:39 PM,High,Data Protector blocked a suspicious action by MWOClient.exe,Action Blocked,No Action Required,Action Blocked,C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Bin64\MWOClient.exe,MWOClient.exe,8/20/2024 5:12:39 PM,Suspicious process attempted to open a file protected by Data Protector,C:\Users\Owner\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\UIWebDownloads\Store.Images.xml
The game works normally, but the tab in game for "mechwarrior news and promotions" comes up blank, so I assume that's what it tries to modify when the game launches.
Also during the game it seems to want to update shader cache and things and this too freaks out my antivirus now. I suspect I'll just have to introduce these files to my AV exceptions.
And yes... I made a support ticket. Just putting it here for visibility so people won't freak out about antivirus. (As much.)

i havent patched yet, lets see what avg does.
honestly im going to stop using avg on my next install and just do windows defender. if im still on windows anyway. its kind of turned into a fear mongering pos. pops up worse than viruses from the '90s.
and nope, seems like a fluke of norton. but id run the repair tool just in case it broke something in the patch. or in case something was corrupted. preferably with the virus scanner disabled. wouldnt be the first false positive a virus scanner tried to block. they love to block open source applications and crypto miners that you want to run. the ones you dont want to run snake through somehow (usually in your browser).

Yeah, I figure its most likely happening after an antivirus update, rather than something brand new the MWO launcher is doing. AV is twitchy by design.
