Not really. It's still one of the best brawler mechs in the game. When a fresh Atlas is showing up in front of you and your not fast enough, you're pretty much dead.

PUGging in a slow brawler is way too dependent on the other team being bad to succeed.

I thought it was the Founder head but it's actually the Loyalty head now.

The D can Zombie. The D-DC can't.

What gets targeted on a D-DC. Left Torso to eliminate the ECM and right torso to eliminate the AC20. Then you are a stick.

Why D-DC can't? I thought if you have STD engine you can... maybe I'm missing something.

DDC, for the ECM and the extra missile hardpoint. For brawling, more SRMs more better.

Because of the energie hardpoints in the center? No one with sense would put lasers into the ct hardpoints.

edit: ah the D, my thoughts where on the S variant.

The ability to zombie is really far down the ladder of what makes a mech good in the current meta.. it's all about the heat stability and sheer firepower you can bring.

The RS With 4 Large Pulse Lasers is fairly decent and since the side torsos are the first to go anyway most of the time, having your weapons in the arms mean no weapon loss cause of random crits just cause 0.1 structure was lost after an enemy breaking your armor (frigging hate when that happens. >.< ). Plus you have less issues with aiming up or down.

-S is best, -D-DC is still above the rest.

Help me chose between these 2 please.
I'll soon have credits for only one of them, so I want to make the most of it for my 1st Atlas. I have watched a few videos and seen some builds.

I plan to use AC 20 with SRM 6-As and some lasers (as a general build). Specifically it will be depending on which one I chose, of course.

I do have 2 questions left unanswered:
1. Is the crit hit chance -25% really worth it?
2. Is the ECM on an Atlas chassis worth it? Being that is so big slow...

The D variant actually has better quirks for AC 20 and better accel/decel too.

Most of the videos and builds I seen lately are for the D-DC. If someone has a good build for the D variant I'd appreciate it.

Don't have much experience piloting Atlas, but AS7-D for sure.
I don't like the idea of piloting a 100 ton stick when I lose both STs (or mounting XLs on an Atlas). Besides, Atlas is a great brawler, you'd still want to be able to bite back after losing both STs.

2MLs? That's useless on a light mech, nevermind a 100-tonner, totally not worth worrying about having when you're seconds from death.

I'd take Medium Pulses personally. Every bit of damage helps in brawling

But the tonnage for those lasers take away valuable engine size, heat sinks, and/or ammo for your AC20 and 4 SRM6 w/artemis..

That's just...wrong. Brawlers have to walk the line between alpha and DPS because once they're in, they're in. Big punch is important, but the ability to keep punching is also important. The best brawling Atlas (the S) doesn't even run lasers if properly built because the main thing lasers add to Atlas builds is heat problems. Even without lasers, it can get hot in a brawl. If you waste four tons on two MPLs, you're gonna pay for it somewhere and you're going to lose to better built brawlers.
