Help me chose between these 2 please.
I'll soon have credits for only one of them, so I want to make the most of it for my 1st Atlas. I have watched a few videos and seen some builds.

I plan to use AC 20 with SRM 6-As and some lasers (as a general build). Specifically it will be depending on which one I chose, of course.

I do have 2 questions left unanswered:
1. Is the crit hit chance -25% really worth it?
2. Is the ECM on an Atlas chassis worth it? Being that is so big slow...

The D variant actually has better quirks for AC 20 and better accel/decel too.

Most of the videos and builds I seen lately are for the D-DC. If someone has a good build for the D variant I'd appreciate it.

there D variant is a lot weaker. the D-DC can do AC20 3SRM6. with ECM, it's a good combination for a good brawler and in wrong maps ECM does surely help.

Why D-DC can't? I thought if you have STD engine you can... maybe I'm missing something.

The D has two CT energy hardpoints. The D-DC gives those up for the ECM and a missile hardpoint.

omigosh...that's still around?

I use it if I buy a new mech that I have never played before or if Im looking for some build. Its not that active anymore but thats the only place that I know where builds are organized into mech, chasis, unlike at the forum here..

Well, this turned out to be a disaster for me... 7 losses 1 win so far with the D-DC and I can blame me for them since I've been doing 100ish damage in most of them and dying like a bug in a rain of fire.

Is still pretty much stock and so slow and big, once I committed to an attack I can't retreat or do anything but die. Bleh 11mil credits wasted on a mech I can't play. :/

I should have bought another heavy or medium mech instead.

Keep playing with the Atlas. If you're not used to slow assaults you'll need more matches to get the feeling of the mech.

What's your loadout?

This is the final loadout I'm aiming for > http://mwo.smurfy-ne...04c5e2ffe6d3be8

But for now I only have the weapons, rest is stock... and no skills either.

Also I don't see other people playing Atlas.

Sorry for the double post but, this is getting ridiculous. I had 3 matches in row 500+ damage loss, 600+ damage loss and 843 damage and loss...

At least I'm starting to get the hang of this Atlas. Still half the upgrades needed on him.

Haha, that's accurate :)

If I get support I do that, if I don't I die with 100 damage, like I did yet again now, pfff.

It's too team dependent this mech. More than others I mean.

So SHS, no Endo, stock engine and no skills...

Well, you need to fully upgrade your loadout before having a real feel on how the mech performs. And of course, double basics will improve your performance too.

Sadly, the only way to have all this things without GXP and C-Bills is playing, but you already have started to have good matches, so keep on playing.

You don't see too much Atlas because well... there are better assaults out there.

And someone pointed before, but here https://www.mechspec...s/as7-d-dc.166/ you'll find a lot of builds for your Atlas, in case that you don't enjoy your current build.

edit: I'm happy with my choice now. This was a good win.

The Titan build from mechspecs is pretty good, the ERLLs in the arms combined with a 45 damage front loaded close range punch make it pretty flexible. I use a 340 engine and 1 ton less SRM ammo, though: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...05eccf237ada170
Can run a bit hot if you haven't elited it. Regular large lasers work, too, if heat is your problem, although I like the ERs, because you can fend off annoying long range light mech snipers with them.

If you are exposing enough of your atlas to be using ERLLAS at range on the arms you are playing the atlas incorrectly.

Seems to work well for me. It's the mech with highest W/L I have (1.61).

I guess you'll just have to get hosed by more barrages of gauss + PPC to understand what I mean :P

Because of the extra missile slot? And a 4 x SRM 6 build?

i hope thats his reasoning and not 'hold locks pls lrm60 here'.

im leveling one of these and i got it set up as a "fast" brawler with an std350, 4 srm4s, 4 medium lasers, and an ac5.

Hey guys, I got another question.

Since I don't have enough credits to buy different weapons to test them: what is better if I had to chose between 3x SRM 6 vs 3x SRM 4 + A ?

DPS wise and focus fire. Which one would kill faster in a brawl?

"sneaking" around the corner ina ddc and the sound of 2 lbx10 in the morning is totally worth it.

depends on the target and it's size. vs small mechs the 3x4A may be better than the 3x6. but vs fat mechs rather close the 3x6 will do fine too.

Alright, so the difference between the missile systems is not that big between the two. I do incline for 3x 4A though.

As for the 2x lbx10, I actually want to try 1x Gauss so I can have some range and better cooling. 2x lbx10 needs to many sacrifices for basically a weaker version of AC 20.

If I don't like the Gauss I'll revert to AC 20. I'm used with the Gauss on my Catapult though...
