I always use throttle decay. If I need a sticky throttle, I can use the NumPad, but in combat I'm changing direction so much that having no decay is entirely without value.

I always use throtle decay. Because it's much easier to take cover correctly and also it's prevent me to crashing into my teammates if we group up.

It's amazing to me that people think speed alone will save them in a light.

The secret is abusing the hell out of how broken the accel and deceleration quirks are-- it's easy to lead a target going full speed constantly but good luck hitting a light that is going 160 one second, 40 the next, then 120 by the time you've adjusted the shot. Posted Image

Also just as important, is never run in a straight line with a light... change directions every 2-3 seconds or so.

Not running in a straight line has the same effect as start-stopping, since it changes your velocity on a given single axis in the same manner. Difference is that it also changes your velocity on at least one other axis at the same time.

I always played with decay on. I had forgotten about this acceleration thng. I cant understand why PGI would do this tbh, its stupidly complex for people who have mouse and keyboard setups, like we dont have enough to do juggling 6 weapon groups and whatever else and it kinda begs to be circumvented via some sort of macro. This is more bug than feature imo, the only reason i can think up for things to be this way is to nerf players who play in the first person shooter mould, rather than the flight sim types. I have been playing fps games for a long time, they all use the same movement mechanics except this one. How many new players come into this game, dont know little things like this and then leave the game cause they dont enjoy it? I hope PGI change this, i dont care enough to try and get round it so if i do play ill take the handicap but seriously, fix this PGI.
