NOVA Prime (C)

http://[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ef3025fa4c8a488[/smurfy]

2 x cMPL
6 x c erSL
4 x MG
TC1
18 double HS

This is not listed in the meta builds but it is extremely versatile and effective. The Medium Pulse Laser give you some medium range poke damage in the early game. When it comes time to close the distance the Medium Pulse Lasers synergize well with the Clan extended range small lasers to give you a devastating punch up to 360 meters. The four machine guns are finishers and will rip apart any open components in short order. All together and combined with its jump jet capability this is a versatile medium to short range Mech that can act as a mid range poker, short ranger brawler and late game closer to clean up the damaged enemy Mechs and secure the win. The player needs to learn to watch heat build up and manage weapon groups to be successful.

If we _really_ talking about a user friendly mech, that's what i would recommend a new player to run:
6spl + 4mguns + ams. Well protected, constant fire. It also helps, that it keeps stock S omnipods.

If we are talking about the most deadly mech, it is a 12 spl setup, no doubt. But a newbie will overheat twice and die in sorrow.

Nova Prime (C)

http://[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3de7bd0ee5a671b[/smurfy]

3 x cMPL
4 x cerSL
1 x AMS
TC1
2 X MG
17 double Heatsinks

This is an alternative, new player friendly version of my previous build that includes AMS to save them from the LRM induced fright on maps like Polar Highlands. It has a little more mid-range poke damage due to the additional Clan Medium Pulse Laser. This is supplemented with four extended range Small Lasers for short range work and two machine guns to finish off damaged Mechs.

For the Nova, I've had a lot of fun with my Nova B. It's got a humble build of a single UAC10 and 3 ERMLs. Though it doesn't look like much at first glance, it's proven itself well to me. Well enough that I've actually created a Huntsmen build of nearly the same exact build on it, which placed me on the leader board for the Huntsmen challenge.

The UAC10 provides some reasonable punch, and the ERMLs compliment it well as another form of armor stripper. Best when used for jumping over obstacles and shooting a double tap of UAC10 and the lasers into a target before dropping behind cover again. A new player will be pushed with this build if they don't use the jump, but it's been a solid build for me.

My only concern with this build is with the recent UAC jam chance. However, the Nova B currently still has quirks to reduce the Jam chance. I sadly can not plan for future changes to the Nova, so I am concerned about how well it will stand the test of time.

An updated alternative version of my Nova B, this one with an LB10x and 3 ERMLs.

The LBx replaces the UAC, due to the recent jam chance increase and jam time increase. A build very similar to this has been working flawlessly on my Huntsmen, so I'd imagine it would work well on the Nova as well (seen as the Nova was the progenitor of this design before the UAC changes). The LBx should actually be even friendlier on new players, as it's natural spread can help with "almost hit" shots still hitting, yet will reward better accuracy still as a player improves their skills.

BREAKER 4x MG + 12 ERSL

That's right, +30% CBills for everyone!

- They should learn to be aware of their surroundings to protect their rear, also to keep moving.
- They should learn to partition their 12-ERSL into two volleys.
- I didn't added AMS because it will make them lazy and won't learn to avoid LRMs.

Due to someone making an excellent point somewhere else about these builds... I have added in AMS onto THIS DESIGN.

It now has an LB10x, 3 ERMLs and an AMS with 1/2 ton of ammo. It will aid a new player against incoming LRMs as they start. (Sadly, I could not effectively add in any more than this, as much as I wanted to.)

Let's call this one a bit....unique. It's an iron dome AMS mixed with some medium laser vomit.

NVA-S, triple AMS, 12 ERSL, 20 DHS, fully armored. Very heat efficient with both high burst and dps potential. Should be noob-friendly enough I think.

Doesn't generate ghost heat so newbies don't melt the very first time they fire.

12 ERSL for only 2 firing groups + 24 heatsinks and no fluff.
.
So that felt a bit strange to build but I tried to make it as newbie friendly as possible.

Incorporating the new players habbit of always playing in locked aim mode 1st think i did was cut arm actuators, doubled the back armor and added 7 more points of head armor compared to the build I would use, and decided to make a few more decisions that felt really wrong for the sake of ease of use for less experienced pilots.
Targeting computer was subbed for an additional heatsink, and while the difference is small either way i figure a player that isnt used to watching their heat all the time would benefit more from the increased heat efficiency compared to the marginal range upgrade.
The usual A torsos were subbed for the D variant to increase durability at the cost of range.I even strongly considered the Prime torsos for the small heat gen bonus, but a new player is more likely to engage an undistracted opponent and would definitely benefit more from the additional armor, esp vs other less experienced pilots.
From the differenct CT quirks I knew all I wanted was the torso turn rate, and opted out of the obviously best S variant in order to force the player to learn positioning vs LRMs instead of relying on ineffective crutches like AMS.

Let chaos start in random/fp matches! Mini catapult, but more campact, fast, jump high and can brawl. Ideal for pugs and drunk people.
