It's not often I get asked for my opinion on mech choice. I thank that was part of it being a more serious discussion than normal. I also know that HBS's mech pipline got locked in a while back. I was disappointed to learn that my Assassin wouldn't make it into their game when I talked to them at MechCon. The assassin was the first IS mech I've modelled, thus my first chance to get a mech I made into their game.

All good info, I can't thank you enough!

I bet it's the 25 ton Quadruped Tarantula!
I know i'm right!

as my comments on secret mechs tend to be about my experience with the miniatures, I'm sad to give the following report:
I was given a broken tarantula mini by my brother, and it has sat unfixed on my shelf for somewhere between 10 and 15 years.
I even found it and picked it up just now. Its in bad shape Posted Image

Yuck, more instantly trash-canned inner sphere lights.

We've already got SO damn many lights for the sphere that are just moth balled due to being hardpoint/ tonnage starved, I'd rather see them address those worthless heaps of garbage before throwing in another onto the pile.

If it's 20-30 tons, it's going to be streak bait. If it's 35 tons, it is going to be too big to survive in modern MWO.

Take your doom and gloom elsewhere, we've been needing a light mech release for a long time now. Even if it's terrible, it'll add some much needed variety.

Meanwhile, all my brother did with Battletech/Mechwarrior is have me and him play MW3 "co-op", with one person steering the mech, the other one firing weapons/aiming. And yes, one of us used a steering wheel and pedals. Most awkward usage of a Summoner ever.

Funnily enough, that's literally my main argument for the inclusion of the Quadrupeds (well apart from 'I WANT IT, DAMN IT')

In 2016 we never have any new lights mech. Any new light mechs is fine welcome addition to the game since we never have any new light after 1 year. Also take out your pessimism outta here.

Unfortunately, it seems that I lost control here. Sorry 'bout that. I'm just sick of watching my favourite weightclass get shoved down the toilet all for the sake of ̶P̶o̶t̶a̶t̶o̶e̶s̶ Balance.

Clans needed their 20 tonner. That was somewhat alluded to, and a lot of people were hoping for it.

IS already has a wide stable of lights in comparison. Problem is, most of them are more or less trash, either by virtue of junk loadout possibilities or obnoxious increase in size. Locusts have 3 variants which are taken seriously. Commandos are arm reliant and hardpoint starved jokes. Urbanmechs are on a completely different level of silly. Spiders have two variants that can barely do anything, the rest are utterly awful. Firestarters used to be good, but got hamstrung by skill tree value change, size increase and quirk changes. Ravens are only there to snipe. Jenners only have the JR7-F and Oxide that are barely on the verge of usefulness thanks to bloated torso being easy to hit. Wolfhounds got smacked hard by the size increase.

First they'd need to make IS lights actually worth a damn, and the ones that already exist worth taking before adding more onto the heap. This means either they make the new IS light hyper hardpoint inflated and powercreep the ever living daylights out of it for it to sell, or if not then most people will just decide to wait it out and buy it for cbills at a later date. Why pay $20 for an average mech when lights are cheap enough that everyone can afford them, after all.

Telling an employee of a company that a co-worker of theirs, especially a senior in the company, is hugely egotistical is generally one of the most tactless things you can do. Especially when you did it in public on the company's forum while he's trying to be friend and answer questions. There are zero ways I know of he can respond to that.

Oh wow, so instead of filling a clan light void, they are going to flood the IS light scene. I really didn't expect that, that's special.

Hmm - sorry about that, guys.

I must have had psychosis (or misread something) when I said that the new light was a 30 tonner...

There is no proof that the new light is a 30 tonner.

If PGI wanted to be nice to Spheroids, they'd better fricking buff the 65 oops, 35-ton JR7/FS9/WLF so that we can get some nice classic wolf-packing in there with whatever the new light will be, instead of making it the only good light other than the locust.

I wonder if PGI is holding off a 20 ton Clan mech because of FW or if that is at least a possible contributing factor in their eyes? Given the current tonnage, two Kodiak's and two of the a new Clan 20t mech would be possilbe.

I'm sorry! It's really not my intention to troll you, but I wanted to show my appreciation. It really is fun to read your speculation, which is also very informative. My opinion was asked when deciding this mech, and the one selected turned out to be my top suggestion.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you. I love drawing these mechs we all care deeply about, and wouldn't dream of jeopardizing that.
I can tell you that I've got some content ready for a kind of livestream once this mech is announced, and I'm able to share part of my process creating it.

Hi Brenden!

I'd say that would count as going above and beyond.

Thank you for that.

We need the Flea! I might want to roleplay as a Wolf Dragoons pilot on my alt account or something. Please PGI. If you fix the speed limit issue with the game engine theres NO excuse not to include it, same for the Fire Moth, let that mech come along too.
Also the PGI fella (Michael??) that modeled the Flea saying its to similar to the Locust. I wholeheartedly disagree. Rescale included the Flea could be a tiny bit overall smaller than the Locust.

The differences are roughly.

Locust

Make it so that the mechs in arms reunite as the cousins they are! Mend their broken heart back together Posted Image

Maybe a bit unrelated but why can we have the so called "trash" mech but not (maybe) the Flea?

IS lights are still larger than some heavy mechs and often larger than most mediums. Will the IS lights be resized back down? Right now they are rarely seen in FP due to the ease of killing the massive 'light mechs'. Right now I only see the locust, due to size, and the raven, due to ecm and narc, in FP.

I was, of course, just kidding. I would, in fact, lose respect for you if you did. I'm pretty excited to see, though, as I may have mentioned someeverywhere.

The Flea, obviously. It needs to happen.

Assuming they don't do that, then... Owens? No, that's a bad way to start IS Omnimechs.

Javelin. Let's bring SRM (And maybe, soon, MRM) boating to the Inner Sphere light category (Not locked behind a pay wall).
