Petition To Bring Back Old Assault

Assault used to have a mini base that acted as a base until some bright spark removed it due to some whiners?
Now there's NO base to assault. Either re-instate the mini base or remove it entirely until it's fixed. New assault (or whatever package it's been parcelled as) isn't going to happen any time soon for sure, I'd expect Q3.
PGI I beg you to put the turrets back into Assault to give a team enough time to make a decision to head back or assault the enemy base as intended.
AFAIK it was removed cause lights were getting hit (funny that, I never had this problem), now silly light trolls ruin the match by a fast cap and people on the same team can't stop them.

I do know how you feel, there have been a couple of matches where bases have been capped and no shots fired, seems like a waste of queue time to me but hey, it happens.
Personally I really hope each side doesnt have a base and there is only 1 base that 1 team defends and one attacks. That makes much more sense than 2 bases. On the current maps we have it is going to mean poke fest from bases till time runs out, lame.

but assault is getting a huge revamp.. so till then maybe play a faster mech and watch the base route.. maybe the team will actually come when you spot them...

I, too, never understood why they removed the turrets.
Replace Lurrets by lasers, yes, but not strip the whole base of its ... you know ... base.

the funny part is i never had an issue with the LRM turrets.. They were SO easy to counter even by bralwers. Peak and shoot.. or even dumb fire your own LRM's and if you were a brawler you just needed to use any number of routes to get close and play the peak and shoot game and take um down with out taking any damage..
Laser turrets to me where they PIA's especially when i was driving a light mech, late game with next to no armor.. I got popped a bunch of times by those suckers.. but even still to me it added a lot of strat to the game with being able to fall back. I can tell you about tons of matches we fell back to base and pulled out a great win using our base defenses.
Sure every now and again you were so beat up and not enough weapons to take down turrets easily enough that you would not have died.. (again darn laser turrets!, unless of course you could just out range them, then they were proverbial pie.
The only change i would of made to old assault.. Make each base have 12 turrets, and then each turret tied to a living mech. Would of been a nice compromise i thought, fend off the early base rush and slow down Cap warrior enough to give pokey assaults enough time to run back.. Though honestly, some of my favorite games were when me and a lance, or 2-4 mechs basically would fall back to base and make the last stand.. and some how pull out the win..

The only real crime here is that the winning team is not rewarded for completing the objectives because the only thing that is rewarded substantially in this game is damage and kills. So, strategic movement that wins the match and preserves the team is, in effect, punished. Yeah, yeah, I know. It is a FPS game not BattleTech or a Mech sim.
All that being said, I would have no problem with turrets or radar (UAV) towers located in or around each base so te caps do not happen quite so fast or stealthily.

Psst! The original assault is exactly what it is today before "some bright spark

I said they were annoying--and in Mining only--never said I die to them. It is just pretty stupid that the base turret in Mining can target and hit you when you are standing on the middle platform. That limits movement on an already small map.

It's arguably a "terrible" mode only for people who have no intention, much less a plan, to:
DEFEND THE BASE
Heck, the rewards are lower than before simply because there was a whole lot of loud whining from the very same people who did not want to:
DEFEND THE BASE
If people would only have the intention, or better yet have a plan to:
DEFEND THE BASE
then early cap victories will not happen.
But no, people would rather mindlessly all run to the middle and refuse to:
DEFEND THE BASE
