Well to answer the Smoke Jaguar question I'd like to point you to the Minnesota Tribe and look you straight in the eye and bet you 10-C- that PGI is going to make something up just like that.

And I suppose, but when the aforementioned FedCom Civil War turns up and all the players new to the Battletech lore start asking 'Whose the FedCom?' I hope PGI blushes a bright pink when they remember this little mistake.

The Minnesota Tribe was remnants of Clan Wolverine that split off from the part that ended up in The Umayyas Caliphate, Comstar caught them in Kurita space and hide them on a world they controlled. That was who formed the basis of the elite Word of Blake troops... Comstar did the same thing with Smoke Jaguar but they were given a different name Lex Fidelius (iirc), cause Comstar is an evil garbage group of people.

More pressing, where is Clan Wolverine? Posted Image

you asked while I was answering... I cant remember the name of the world that Comstar has them hidden on at this point in the timeline, but it has been removed from all starmaps & records.

For the most part, this is true. But they did save the Inner Sphere that one time, so they have that going for them.

...And then they let the Word of Blake torch the whole shebang. So I guess we can call it a wash.

Meh, two Comstars basically after the schism. You've got the fundie nutbags (Wobblies) and the cool blend of secularized and slightly mystical Space Rangers (post-Scorpion ComStar).

And I'd really like to see the FedCom. Since I got introduced to the IS via MW2: Mercs and the Invasion-era Stackpole novels, it's always felt disappointing to not have any sort of indication of its existence.

By 3060 the FedCom is (formally) integrated but not far from falling apart. If PGI gives some sort of event(s) or... I dunno, something to make it noteworthy, then could set it up for a pretty big event to have the Civil War? It's a fairly major part of the 3060s lore to just leave out entirely, and shaped the situation that led to the Jihad exploding.

Since the Word of Blake was nothing but a Comstar ploy... they are super evil garbage people. Comstar is the Catholic Church of the Dark Ages... repressing everyone around to make sure no one gets too strong to establish dominance, so they are always central. Just like it was Comstar that carried out the assassination on Arthur Steiner-Davion not Katrina but she was blamed and that Moral Outrage is what sparked the FedCom Civil War, course Comstar did not actually kill Arthur but kidnapped him then reprogrammed him into becoming Devlin Stone. So Devlin Stone was just one more move they carried out to get to establishing the Republic, then when that reached its conclusion... Comstar was the one who turned on the HHPG which shut down all HPG communications and plunged the IS back into full scale warfare (while they also killed the tech that figured out how to fine tune the HPG stations to each other thereby circumventing the static caused by the HHPG they had turned on.)

Reading the novels and sourcebooks is one long track record of Comstar evil plans that have resulted in the death of billions if not trillions while they manipulate everyone behind the scenes trying to gain power. Nothing they could ever do will EVER wash the blood that stains their hands clean... they all need to be executed and their name scrubbed from existence.

The Gray Death Saga novel "Price of Glory" is a perfect example of how callous and ruthless Comstar could be.

The slaughter of Tiantan on Sirius V, some 12 million people, and the subsequent assault on the Gray Death dependents at Durandel, which would have been at least another thousand or more.

All of it orchestrated by a lone, and rogue Comstar Precentor blinded by power, who used several insidious threats against several rather stupid Marik officials.

If that Precentor had gotten ahold of the Star League Library, it's very likely the rest of the Inner Sphere would have been utterly steamrolled by the Clans. Whether the Com Guards would have won at Tukayyid could very well have been up in the air as well.

I imagine they still would have won, but it was thanks to both the Helm Library and the Wolf's Dragoons that the Inner Sphere itself finally managed to start fighting back against the Clans. Without the Helm Library it would have taken even longer for the Sphere to regain their lost technology... If that would even possible without the discovery of the LIbrary core.

God I hope not.

The Federated Suns can go blankety blank blank themselves with a blank and a blank and another blank for good measure. Lyran Commonwealth and 3025 forever.

For the sake of argument, PGI is bad at lore, and for the purposes of factions and FP, your specific faction doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

MWO is a different timeline / universe. So FedCom might have been never a thing in this one.

I noticed something a while back.

Pay attention to who is offering the contracts for Steiner and Davion. And their title.

Maybe I should change that since I hardly see a blue fist's anywhere.
Oh except for those going Davion.

I am fairly anti-Steiner as a Skye Separatist who knows the Steiners stole the Throne from Marsdens and even the Marsdens stole power that Skye never gave up in a coup.... but a person is free to pick any name they want and it is respectful to call them by it. If she wanted to be know as Katrina... then call her Katrina. No need to be a douche about it
