Military bases, Air bases, Manufactures, Large cities, Naval yards, etc.
You could decorate with different builds with each great house style.
You could add in environmental effects like swamps that slow down mechs, gravity that allows higher jumping, trees that could be set on fire, healing up the mechs in the fire, etc etc.
Add in some fun vehicles like light tanks or VTOLS in stead of just turrents. Perhaps even destructible civilian vehicles.
Give the players the ability to make maps on the test server and I think both PGI and the player base would be happy with the result.

Might as well go for a new map type (Urban) and hope the playerbase likes it enough to introduce some variety into our lives.
Also, the new Terra Therma is the newest (public queue) map, so the next one should avoid being a cauldron probably for the sake of variety.

You have a point here that no one votes them and that's a shame because I honestly believe hotter maps would solve some of the common gripes. I can't tell you how bored I am with Crimson Strait right now, it is legitimately 2/3 of the matches.
I completely disagree that map voting should be removed though. That was introduced to give players a say in the choice so when they bring a brawler they don't get stuck with Alpine etc.

a setting like terra terma just with many skyscrapers some map more for brawling less range
story behind it would be easy too vulcano errupted city died and became a battlefield

Or its a desert city? Maybe not so much skyscrapers but more bunker like structures cause of high heat and winds. Think Twycoss is like that.

1) a dense urban map, full of 5-10 storied buildings.
2) an entire map like the OUTSIDE of Emerald Taiga, with those green mountains and hills covered in trees.
3) a desert, dune map similar to polar Highlands except hot and with sandstorms.

Then there won't be a problem; people will make what they want to see, and pgi won't have to pay 300,000 a map.
