Determining the speed and tonnage was much easier than going through all the math, since there is already a mech in smurfy with the correct engine ranges and tonnage.

SDR-5D is the same weight and has the same 255 engine cap.
Link even shows how much tonnage you will have left for weapons/cooling/etc.

SDR-5K
Same can be done for the 5k, with a 285 engine.

Those are good movement rates. Tonnage is obviously limiting, but that's universally an issue for light designs.

My fear is that it's going to be huge just like the Panther and such, oh well, looks cool though!

If they're doing volume by tonnage this should sit somewhere between the Urbie and Spider.

It's definitely *10.8 to convert to kph.
97.2 kph / 10.8 = 9
9 / 1.5 = 6
6 * 30 = 180 engine rating.

So for the 10F and 10N variants that can have a max engine rating of 285

285/30 (mech tonnage) = walk speed in hexes of 9.5
Which = run speed in hexes of 9.5 * 1.5 = 14.25
Converted to kph = 14.25 * 10.8 = 153.9kph

For the others which have the max engine rating of 255
255/30 = 8.5
8.5 * 1.5 = 12.75
12.75 * 10.8 = 137.7 kph

Keep in mind this is before speed tweek.

Straight forward MWO specific math:

Engine Rating / Mech Tonnage * 16.2 = Kph before speed tweak

Was really hoping for the Stinger, Wasp or the Valkyrie but at least we'll have a decent missile-focused Light Mech, shame the three best variants are behind additional paywalls. Regardless though, they do have my money, this will be a fun SRM boat.

Thats been every single mech package pretty much since Clans.

The ones with loadouts they KNOW people will want, they put behind additional pay walls.. cause.. money :T

I know their a business and all, but this kind of 'fishing' is just getting annoying lately :(

At least the fast ones are in the basic pack.

I'm very conflicted. The three base pack variants and the hero look like fun, but I'm heinously terrible at piloting light mechs (with possible exception of the Adder because that thing carries a medium mech's weapons loadout)

I'd take that as a LRM boat.

Hell yeah. I much prefer putting LRMs in something mobile, instead of tying up an assault that needs babysitting.

That is the opposite side of the bad spectrum. A light is not a really effective LRM boat in most cases. This kind of loadout usually works best with mediums or heavies. There is just not enough tonnage to do it properly on a light.

Haha, the only reason I am considering buying this pack, is to get that Heavy-Metal pink... Is that going to be a regularly available color? Or is it exlusive to pre-order?

...Told it before, and will say it again - single valiable package = (S)pecial. But it's too expensive - remove all that cpar (prem time, cocpit items etc stuff) and make it cost 20$ - I'll buy one. Other way - no, thanks.

P.S. And still no reason to buy STD package! Get it before others is not a valuable reason... IMHO.

Very well translated from TRO (MVP Alex again!). Another splat light does nothing to address the seriously lacking reward system when it comes to lights actually doing recon/scouting. You have here a competitor to the Oxide. How much "Recon" does that do? That aside. I dig it but don't need it. This will be an MC buy for the hero. Too much work has been ignored for the GAMEPLAY. I don't need another Mech' pack.

Well it's ordered, but if the 3D model looks the same I'll cancel.

It's a mech that in the fluff, is supposed to have balance issues because of it's protruding Missile Launchers, and it has a sunken chest and bow legs.

If it wasn't for the head, I doubt anyone would have recognised it without the name across the top

Not one of Alex's better ones I'm afraid

  • A mech that is widely available in the 3025-3050 period
  • A Missile-boat light where there formerly was none
  • Not looking to break the game or one-up the last mech with powercreep
This is doing it right. Supported.

If not for the announcement of the time jump, I would have been looking forward to seeing the inclusion of the Hermes II, Clint, and Charger.

Please send this to HBS

the problem isn't so much the reward system, it's that there's just not much value in recon/scouting. if we had some real objective-based game modes then lights might serve a valuable purpose, but currently they're only really good for capping the outermost points in conquest.

This! I'll still end up getting the Javelin since it's a light. Hopefully they're FIX the mech rescale, it's still wrong.

Phew, just hopped in last minute for the preorder ...

Probably was motivated by the Trial-Spider (didn't play trials for almost a year). The harassing and distracting of enemy troops is just to satisfying to be ignored.^^

And this bugger packs a little punch. So you better get you back to the wall, wounded Kodiak! There's a Javelin incoming ...

Even if its a light mech and I kinda want to support PGI/ show interest by buying them. The Javelin are not one of the lights I want, so I'll hold off my cash for the IS and Clan mechs that will be up for pre-order later in March. I think there will be lights among them, hopefully the Flea and the Cougar Posted Image
