New-New Light Speculations

1. Likely to be Clan.
2. If (1), likely to be (or should be) a 20-tonner to fill in that slot.
Now that we know it's to be an IS, what do people want/think will be released?

A Javelin would be pretty swell as well.

But I'm feeling generous, so I'll lend my speculative might to the Raptor this time around. Lets go, IS Omnimechs!
If only the world ran on 'Clap Your Hands if You Believe.'

The only Sphere light I have the remotest interest in, outside far-flung FutureTech options way outside the new timeline, is the Valkyrie. Which would be bad in MWO and I wouldn't buy a 3/5/H Valkyrie pack anyways so BLAH.
Because you Sphere guys totes needed more fasties yourselves, we weren't starved for ANY viable non-Cheetah light or anything...

I don't think the Firemoth would've been very viable anyway.
Fast? Yes. Viable? Eh, i don't think so.
I mean, Commandos are pretty fast, but are they viable?

Fire Moth would've been more viable than most every other light we've got. If it got Locust-level scaling and a 5E configuration it could've done the same super-scoot backstabby builds people on the Sphere side get away with in Locusts all the time.
But noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, we get a Sphere light instead. Blugh.

Firemoth would allow Clanners to bring heavier deck up front in CW. That's all it does. As for the rest, there is the Cheater.

Over 200 km/h fast in a 20 ton frame with Clan tech? Yes, I think it would have been very viable.

That scene always pissed me off a little. Those pilots were idiots. They should have fired and then gone in the other direction, not flown straight at him. They're fighting a Smoke Jaguar pilot, the only time he's good at killing something is when it's right in front of him.

That reminds me, I rewatched that intro yesterday (I do it way more often than I'd care to admit), and I noticed for the first time that the Mad Dog's left arm was broken. It took me this many years to notice it.

Upcoming Announcements in January
Inner Sphere Light 'Mech Pre-Order
As promised near the end of 2016 we will be announcing a new Inner Sphere Light ‘Mech this month, set to be launched for pre-order in the third week of January. As mentioned in the introduction of this Roadmap we have been deeply evaluating the current model of ‘Mech releases, both in terms of their structure and in their content. Based on those evaluations the Light ‘Mech you’ll see announced in January will likely be the last installment of our current single ‘Mech system, originally introduced with the launch of the UrbanMech back in 2015 and continued with the majority of our ‘Mech releases since.
You can look forward to the announcement of a new set of ‘Mechs in early March, ushering in much more than a simple adjustment to 'Mech Pack structure….
With January covered, let’s move on to what you can expect in the month of February.

You may also notice that the Thor's arm magically disappears between cuts.
I didn't find out until years later, but the MW3 intro was cut from what appears to be some sort of concept video. The Mobile Field Base operator voiced a mechwarrior, and the damage seen in the intro makes more sense.
Can't seem to find the video at the moment though.

The only IS light mech I would buy is probably one with 6+ hardpoints distributed amongst both arms and side torsos or CT, jump jets, ECM and 150+ max speed. No such light mech exists in this timeline. PGI would need to design a PGI-original mech, like the Roughneck.
But if they did make a PGI original mech like that, it would obviously be powercreep and P2W and everyone would buy it, and I probably wouldn't want it anyway
Right now, the weight class balance in MWO sucks, and I feel like most light mechs from lore would just be underpowered unless heavily quirked.

While we're talking MW3, here's easily one of the most unintentionally hilarious trailers I've ever seen because of how over the top they made it.
