Is the speed a good tradeoff for the damage this thing can't have? I was messing in the store with it in the mech lab and i thinked of 1 gauss high mounted 5 mediums spreaded in both arms (in case i lose my st) and 1 lbx20 with 6 mediums, 1 weapon each arm, so, is it a good mech?

I've always liked to put 6 or 7 Small Pulse lasers on the right arm, makes for a very devastating alpha when combined with a few Large Pulses in the torso. You can use those same Large Pulses to make some initial trades at the start of a match.

it's alright if you can use masc, otherwise it's undergunned.

it can however do a lot of builds the timber is known for fairly well, with more armor to go with it but it still is a bigger target.

the LBX20 6xSPL build is fairly common and it does well inside it's optimal range, but you can also twin PPC+gauss or 2xLPL 4xERmed pretty decently with the LPL in the side torsos. i've ran some pretty head scratchy interesting builds in it though and it certainly has surprised me at how well it can tank damage sometimes.

however i need to stress that it has a lot of hard locked equipment like 4 class one jump jets (one ton per) and MASC (4 tons) that you need to take advantage of, otherwise it's dead weight and you are gimping yourself, the mech has a "strong" bunnyhop animation and you should be using it to avoid fire as much as you use MASC. (MASC is normally bound to left shift)

Undergunned?

IMO, the EXE is a fun, underrated mech, but it's very demanding to play. I would not recommend it for a new player.

I love the EXE, and my favorite even now after the changes.. UAC10 + 6 ML's Love this build! Another i like are dual ERLL's+ERPP and SRM bank for upclose. Another fun one is an AC-20 + 7 erSL's and a pair of ML's or 7 small pulse.

Basically the mech is played more like a heavy than an assault. Use MASC to peak with long range weapons, or to maneuver for more brawler style builds. there are lots of energy builds, it is more about what you like for style of play. Typically the more lasers the better with this one. They run scorching hot, but hit hard. Use the MASC to get to cover when hot and cool off, don't try to keep trading blows, you loose your advantage

I had never tried ERPPC and SPL together until I recently threw it on a MAD-IIC on a whim and I kinda love it. That would probably play really well with MASC. Hmmm....

Edit: I notice that's not quite what you said, but my comment stands! :D

I find it a fun mech with either 2 LPL or 2 ERPPC up in the high mounts and 6 SPL split between the arms, or as a full 12 SPL brawler, or running a UAC10 or dual UAC5 in the torso and 10-12 small lasers in the arms.

Its a rough mech for a green pilot honestly in my opinon...

Though thats not to say you cant have success, but its a large mech and kinda clunky if you dont know how to swing her. Using MASC and the JJ's are keys to success like others have said. I put MASC on the right side of my mouse and just squeeze the mouse when i needz to go fast!

My fav build to date, The SExecutioner or SExE....

its a hot mech, dont get me wrong, but dat 76 pt dmg alpha is nothing to turn your nose or rear end up at cuz i can burn through both just as fast!

Also, Never alpha, cuz it hurts. I use 3 fire groups, Mouse 1, 2 and 4 (thumb for me) and mainly use the LPL's just to poke and jump around and be a distraction but once they close 10 erSml on top of the LPL's opens most mechs up with one cycle of the groups.

yeah, purely hypothetical against the idea of a KDK or BNC or the like, it carries less offensive equipment overall.

Sadly, in an era of power creeps and non-omnimechs having optimized hardpoints, having "only" a 61 point alpha on a 3.25 second cooldown on a 95 tonner is indeed "undergunned", at least by Clan standards. This thing just can't compare to the Dakkabear-3 that can pump out 60 damage alphas every 2.5 seconds, or the 2UAC10 5ermed MAD-IIC that has a 75 damage alpha on a 3 second cooldown. I really wish what I'm saying isn't true, but it is. The EXE is "undergunned" for a 95 ton Clan assault.

I have a lot of fun with laser vomit on mine.
Use masc to peek in and out of cover and alpha vomit your way to victory
